If I had 2 weeks, I would skip Shanghai. I would fly to Kunming and do a loop of Dali and Lijiang. You wont be dissapointed and will see something really different from East China. Prices are about 1/2 of east china as well

Agreed. Yunnan was fantastic and I look forward to getting back before the place has changed completely.

I rather liked Beijing and found Chinese people to be really friendly to foreigners...

Question

China is quite possibly the least friendliest place in all Asia. Especially to foreigners.

maybe you should change your name to travel angry or travel stressed. Come on I have lived and travel in China for 5 years and your comment is such b.s.

Nope. I've been to China 5 times (its a cheap hub for flights) and lived in a few cities (Shenzhen, Beijing, Harbin, Zhuhai, etc) and I've been thru all Northern Asia...China is pretty bad. The people make it so.

I don't need to get into specific behaviour, lets just say that

1) They are the most Xenophobic

2) They have the least manners

3) They are not well liked in much of Asia because of this

not in the same way that they speak of the chinese. when people (like me) say that the chinese are scum, we really mean it. because they are.

on top of that, i've yet to see a country that appreciates the chinese - including china.

I found China really friendly, was actually surprised. Sure there were unfriendly people and some old woman laughed at me falling off my bike but apart from that I found it a really friendly place. Considering the language barrier I found it as friendly as anywhere else I have travelled including the US.

As for conflict information I think most can at least agree its more friendly than France.

And you think the people who hate the American tourist don't mean it? I used to live in Edinburgh and they hated the American tourists and thought they were thick as mince. They could even say the name of the city correctly.
