Thoughts, opinions, match analyses, predictions and general banter etc.

Looking forward to the NZ-Tonga match today. The All Blacks should end up comfortable winners. Particularly interested in Sonny Bill Williams. I don't think he's good enough for this level, but we'll see.
Tomorrow is England vs that famous rugby powerhouse, Argentina. If England don't run in at least 3 tries, then they should just pack their bags.

I think Australia have the goods and the form to win the tournament.

I am very excited about this world cup....frankly, I can see up to 6 teams (Boks, All Blacks, Wallabies, Pumas, England and France) who are all capable of holding the Webb Ellis up at the end. Will the All Blacks make history? Or...possibly choke as they have for the last 5 times?

I agree with your comment about SBW, the boy does have potential but he surely does not have the experience to perform at this level...this is the World Cup after all.

Well, the Bokke had a 20 year old playing in the last world cup.

Inside centre Francois Steyn turned out to be a matchwinner as well.

As to who will win, I'd hate to bet on it. The Boks don't travel well to NZ for some reason. That part of the world always support their own so much and the Boks find this off-putting.

So it's inky pinky ponky between the Wallabies and AB's, with the AB's a shade ahead. But will the Springbok's kicking gameplan be better suited to World Cups? I think so!

I hope the AB selectors omit SBW against the Boks, he's the type of player they hate playing against, doesn't suit them.

Anyone but him.

Graeme Henry seems to have fallen into the same trap as last world cup - over thinking, nit picking, rotation, picking players on rep rather than form, some strange combinations...

Over the past four years Deans has picked some young players - Cooper, O'Connor etc, he has slowly worked on combinations and has given some dark horses a chance when they performed well. NZ doesn't even have a back up for McCaw or Carter. Williams inclusion meant the omission of some seriously good players and I'm not sure he is up to the task. I think Robbie Freun was the brains behind why SB played well for Canterbury.

To sum up, Australia has the shazam that will take them through.

I think I'll watch the second half of this game from behind the sofa. Dismal, dismal performance from the forwards. At this rate, Scotland have no chance of qualifying for the next round.

Good game. I can see Scotland losing against Georgia if there's another performance like that.

Halftime England-Argentina. England not looking like world beaters at all. Argentina should be further ahead, but they missed a few kicks at goal.

No shocks so far, but England almost came undone against Argentina after a poor show. Japan played really well for 70 minutes against France and the scoreline was not a fair reflection of their effort. Same goes for Romania against Scotland.
SBW played well against Tonga, but can he do it against the top teams? Australia played well against a tough Italy side, and the flair in backline showed.
Looking forward to Wales-South Africa today. SA by 20 points.

USA are doing quite well against the Irish. No big shocks so far as you say cj1976, but all the 'underdogs' have performed well.

This seems to be the most competitive WC yet. Most of the players are professionals from the top global leagues, so the age of cricket score thrashings is probably over.

poor from ireland.

nobody protecting the scrum half at rucks, too many handling errors. darcy, heaslip absolutely anonymous today.

on a positive note, the scrum looked decent.

they'd better gee themselves up for the aussies in the next match

I'd love to see Japan cause an upset...

SA were poor, they were lucky to get through.
