The holiday schedule is the sunday schedule. Always. The only exception is for New Years Eve when they run later. |

Are we saying the holiday is on Monday and Tuesday and lots of things are closed? As someone who neither works nor studies here, I miss out on holiday information. |

What time do buses and the subway normal run? I thought the subway stopped around 12:00 or so. |

Then post the articles. I haven't seen a single sign about this on Line 1. I didn't see any article about it in the Joongang Ilbo. Doing a bit of research into it, I found an article that says SOME of the lines will be running until 2 am, BUT that the 2 am time is the END of the line time. Also, it's only Seoul Metro lines - not the Korail lines which make up the majority of the subway system in terms of distance. The buses are also only the Seoul buses - none of the intercity buses or Gyeonggi buses are running these late hours.
Long story short, OP, if you use any transportation OUTSIDE of the Seoul city limits, OR on a Korail line, then this does not apply to you.
hogwonguy, you're a dick. Your original answer is wrong on it's face. The holiday hours are the sunday hours. If they are making a change, it isn't common knowledge. Searching the English papers, I found nothing. Searching the Korean versions, I found a couple of articles. As I live on a Korail line, there are no signs about it. So, what makes me an idiot? That I think your post is misleading and you're trying to get someone who doesn't know the subway system stuck out after it shuts down? That I think you should provide evidence if you're going to call someone names? |

Click on "cyber station" on the lower left, then click on any station on the map. You can then click on "timetable" and see the times for the subway.
BTW, I've NEVER seen "additional subway hours" posted in a subway station. Sometimes it gets mentioned in the newspapers, but that's on;y for rare events. |

I've signs in every subway station for every major holiday I've been here and I've been here 15 years (Chuseok, Seollal and NYE) saying (of course IN KOREAN you morons) that because of the holiday and the demand that the subways will run until 2am with trains every X minutes (usually 15-20) and listing the last times to certain destinations. they usually start posting these at least a week ahead of the holiday.
I think its beginning to be a contest on who is dumber, Tony Romo or some of the people who post here, you cant miss these postings people they are all over the subway stations |

I wish I could post a photo of my subway having no such sign, but you can't really photograph a negative. |

For Seoul citizens planning to return on Monday evening and Tuesday, the city government will extend the operating hours of subways and intra-city buses to 2 a.m |
this has pretty much run (with day changes) verbatium in the papers for the 15 years i've been here on the big holidays
now move along to trying to prove the moon landings were faked, the world is flat and fan death is real |

Fan death IS real. I don't know why you would even consider thinking otherwise. |
