|
|
A friend of mine working at a so-so uni job would like to switch to mine (if they would hire her), but the problem is that she'd rather do it sooner than later, which would mean mid-contract, at basically the 6-month point.
What is the process for this? Would she need to leave the country and go on a visa run? What if the uni wouldn't give her a letter of release?
Thanks for your help. |

Is she on an E1 or E2?
Will she get an E1 or an E2?
Can she get a LOR?

She is on an E2, and would be switching to an E2.
The chance of getting a LOR is 50-50. |

Then the rules are the same as anyone else on an E2 and is mid-contract and trying to change jobs.
IF Kimmi has an apostilled copy of her degree and an apostilled "national" CBC on file then:
LOR
passport
ARC
new contract
application
fee (60k for change of status and 30k for an extension if necessary).
new business (uni) school guarantee (sponsorship form)
new school business registration (copy).
If she does not have the documents on file at Kimmi and depending on when she came to Korea she may need to get them before the transfer is allowed.
If she can't get a LOR then she will need to leave Korea (hand in the ARC on the way out to cancel her current status of stay).
Re-enter Korea as a tourist.
Begin the visa process from scratch with the new employer.
Do a visa run to Japan to get her new E2.

I think the more reputable universities would not look favorably on someone breaking their contract midway through. I maybe mistaken but that is what I have heard from people who do work at some of the higher ranked universities here in Seoul.
But if they are adamant in leaving midway through follow ttompatz steps. |
