It's on XTM all the time. I tried to sit through an episode, I'm admittedly biased and don't find analytical car shows that fascinating, but it seemed pretty faithful to the British version. One of the hosts (old dude in every other TV drama) doesn't really strike me as a car buff on appearance alone, but maybe he is. |

I haven't seen a lot of the British version recently so it might not have been an original idea but I thought it was pretty good.
The 3 hosts all got a special car (Like a Humvee) and did it up as a taxi and went and collected random passengers.
I got a couple of giggles out of it. |

do any of those scenes in the trailer look like Korea, except maybe the shot of the 3 guys?
also, one race against the ktx? is there enough here to sustain more than a few episodes?
sorry, but just like Koreas got talent, does this smack of the "we can do it, too!" mentality? i mean, the UK one is full on interesting characters and banter. Would the local version be full of, kissing tail of the richer guests? I mean what do u think? |

hopefully it's nothing like the american and australian version. they are so horrendous.
part of what makes the british one so fun is that they can comment as they see fit about the uk as well as the rest of the world. i hardly doubt that would be allowed in korea without the hosts getting lynched by the mob. |

i totally agree, UK version is still the best
Aus. & US do try hard to adapt to their respective Automotive Markets

well what i found amazing is that 1D2N (1 Day 2 Nights) one of the most popular and longest running shows went on for as long as it did and went to so many different places
in Korea, Racing and Tuning culture isn't like what it is in Japan but it has tremendous potential for growth w/Japan on one side being the BEST in all things Modding and Tuning for Imports & cheap Manufacturers of Aftermarkets parts in China making great strides i.e. Carbon Fiber is HUGE now and has hit mainstream to even automakers taking notice
its not just about going around racetracks though that is a great part of the UK version...entertainment value like the Lambo Taxi and the Hum V mentioned was great
the Korea ver. doesn't have to race around, they have to find a Core audience, and then find new audience and enthusiasts to watch by adapting to Korean culture...i.e. US ver. did almost a complete show about which is the biggest baddest pick up truck towing all sorts of stuff, which one did the longest burnout, etc. - entertaining & hit w/US audience...imo |

The uk version isn't even about the cars. Its about Jeremy being the typical white van man hero who battles against the supposed evil of the politically correct loby and various environmentalist who are apparently out to destory his fun. He's kind of like a dad trying to constantly recapture his youth while insulting other people in the process. He's got his two friends Hammond and May who have different personality types that the British public enjoy making fun of, which Clarkson does for them. Then there are the ridiclous challanges which exist to make fun of the presenters.
Its not about cars, about a segment of British culture. |

I'm probably just biased because I really like the UK Top Gear show, but I find the Korean Top Gear incredibly boring. The hosts just don't have the chemistry as the hosts on the UK version...
I wish they would stop showing the Korean TG and start showing the UK version again. |
