I'm sorry if this question has been beat to death but I've used the search function and nothing has been able to answer my question.
I just came back to the US from South Korea this week and I would like to use my Iphone 4 through a US carrier as I will be living here for the next 5 years or so.
Now in order to do this you have to get it "unlocked" from SHOW correct? Being the Bonehead that I am I completely forgot to do that. I am therefore screwed correct? Only SHOW can unlock it? Or can I by "jailbreaking" it? Was it even locked in the first place?
Any help would be greatly appreciated. |

I'm not up on current jailbreak unlocks, but it's been able to be done before. Look up iPhoneDevTeam. Usually is pretty easy.
In the meantime, don't update any of your software!! |

I unlocked my iPhone from KT. You have to call their customer service (available in English, but you should probably use skype if you are calling from oversea). I had to give them a bunch of numbers from my phone, the serial number and so on. After that you just have the wait a bit, maybe reset the phone and plug it into iTunes and it will automatically unlock the phone for you. You don't have to ever actually visit any physical stores.
Jailbreaking might work, but as long as it's this easy to do it the "legal" way it's not really any point. |

Before unlocking your phone, what was required? Did you have to pay the full amount of the phone first? (I'm paying a monthly payment plan) |

Unless you can prove that you are going to return to Korea in the near future to pay you will most likely have to pay a fee for breaking your contract early with Show. |
