Anyone?
I use a Macbook. Download tons of movies as torrents, but it would be nice if my K-gal could understand 100% of the dialogue instead of just under that.
I generally use VLC player. Anyway how the hell do I download (Korean) subtitles and MAKE IT WORK?? |

Thanks, Johnny... but do these only work on a Gom Player?? I'm pretty sure I tried to get it on my computer, but it's not compatible with a Mac...
Anyway what do I do after I've downloaded it? Open it separately? Drag it somewhere? Or does the option come up automatically when I watch the movie?
Yes, I really am this clueless... |

I use both VLC and Gomplayer. Sometimes the Korean subtitles seem to crash or come out all bugged when playing which is then why I switch to gomplayer. Most of the files in the subtitle database are .smi files meaning they're just regular subtitles. You should be able to drag the .smi file on to the playing video and make it work. You can also try right clicking the video screen and do it in the subtitles menu.
They have a mac version of gomplayer. I'll link you.

Downloaded. "Gom Player cannot open because of a problem." Sigh. Typical. |

Searching for (movie title) 자막 will usually get you something if other methods don't work. |

Typical for a Mac, you mean?
I have no problems getting K-subs to play on my Windows computer using GOM.
In fact, GOM works better than VLC for K-subs. |

Right. In fact GOM has freaked me out a few times by downloading the Korean subs for my movie without me even it asking it too. Just because my location is Korea. That's pretty cool.
Mac's are good at what they do, but they aren't good for wide compatibility. |

I'd like to figure out how that works. Sounds like a useful feature. |

I'm still not sure if it is doing that or if the 2 movies that I downloaded had Korean sub files with them by sheer coincidence......I'll have to check out the file folders to be sure. |

Thanks! Let me know. That would be a real time saver. |

VLC works fine for Subs on a Mac. Been running a video with it all week at school.
Make sure the subtitle file and the video title have the EXACT same name and are in the same folder.
Hit Cmd + , and go to preferences, then Subtitles & OSD. Make sure your encoding is Korean (EUC-KR/CP949) and for font choose Apple Gothic. If there's a sync problem while you're watching, "j" delays the subtitles and "h" speeds them up. Play with the hotkeys setting to figure out how to move the position on the screen. |
