All 3 of mine are men with the youngest coming in at 46.
Despite being from the same demographic they are all quite different and none of them fit the "angry adjosshi" stereotype. |

Yeah so setaro would rather work in a ps with 40 screaming children not listening to a word you say. Think 10 boys are loud? Try a class with 20 or more |
In Public Schools the coteacher usually controls the class and runs the class. |

And just what is the "right personality"?
One person's right is another person's worst nightmare.
I'm not trying to be snide either, I am curious as to what you think the
"right personality" would be. |
I guess it's the kind of personality where the kids feel the teacher actually likes and is comfortable being around young people.
Someone who can show kindness. Patience.
Fairness is important. Young people really need to feel the classroom/school is a fair place or they turn resentful.
Someone who doesn't need total control. If a kid is whispering quietly to another kid at the back, let it go. Don't be disciplining all the time.
Someone humourous. If you make a class laugh on the first day of term then you've won 50% of the battle already.....in Korea that can be as easy as blurting out some goofy Korean phrases now and then.
I'm not a real expert on this. It's just my opinion......and 11 years teaching experience. |
