I have an interview over Skype tomorrow with Korvia. Does anybody have some last minute advice?

If it's for your typical hogwan job then just smile a lot and seem really energetic.

If it's with a recruiter and not the school directly, then don't worry about it. The interview is practically meaningless.

Smile in a really pervy way, then tell Ann you are not wearing anything but a shirt.

Lol, yeah. I have to go get a nice shirt tomorrow. I'm out of town so i don't have any nice clothes with me. I realized I wrote that my interview is tomorrow. I meant to say it's on Sunday evening. So I still have some time.

This job is through Krovia, which is a recruiter for public schools only. They want to place me in EPIK. This job is actually the one I want most. It also happens to be my first interview (for schools in Korea). I wish could have some practice with some other recruiters that I don't care much about first. But I have confidence. I've never done a Skype interview though.

Nice shirt unnecessary. Tshirt probably not fancy enough, but no reason to buy a shirt (well, I don't know you, but assume you might own something halfway decent like a polo)

Speak slowly and clearly. Have pre-prepared answers to questions like "why korea?", "Why teaching?" and maybe stuff like "How would you deal with an unruly student?"

Also have a few questions prepared to ask yourself.

I just had a skype interview with TaLK. IT was pretty cool, try to bust out some random facts about Korea or Asia that displays your interest in the region.

hahaha, ok. I knew that this was just the interview with the recruiter and not actually EPIK. I just wasn't sure how important this interview is. I won't worry too much about it then. The email the recruiter sent me was kind of weird. She made it seem like she was particularly interested in my application. Maybe she does this to everybody, but it was obvious that she actually wrote the email. It was not a template. There were grammar mistakes, so I don't think she is a native speaker.

3 things that I put an emphasis on doing during my interview that I think really helped were: 1) smiled alot 2) expressed a sincere interest in not just South Korea but Asia in general and 3) gave off the impression I'm an extrovert/sociable person even tho I'm an introvert

Reviving this thread because I have a Korvia interview soon.

How did you guys answer the "tell me about yourself" question? I suck at that question the most. I'm actually pretty good at interviews... when I volunteered with EAL students, I was an interview advisor (I basically helped them with their interview skills). However, since the "tell me about yourself" question is usually the first question they ask, if I completely mess up, the interviewer gets a bad impression of me.

I usually answer this question really causally. I tell them my hobbies, mostly. I feel like I should answer it a different way but I don't want to sound fake by saying, "I'm extremely hardworking!" even though I am hardworking...

I basically recited my resume/application information in a friendly, conversational way.

Where I went to school, a little about my work history, qualifications, hobbies, etc.

It seemed to go ok, I got a job offer.

I think speaking slowly, clearly, and being friendly are much more important than what you actually say, but you should definitely have something prepared and have some questions for them not only about the school stuff, but about their city or town so they can see you are interested in their hometown as well.
