Lets see how much you laugh when the bank you save at freezes for an audit. Tool. |
Tomato isn't a bank. That is the difference.

Really?
They seem to think they are.

The Won is certainly taking a major hit this last week.
I've always banked with KEB in Korea for what it's worth.
I'm curious is anyone has seen broader articles on the banking issues here? My impression, if I'm remembering it correctly in the Korea Times, was that this was related to a a cluster of smaller savings & loan type banks? |

| Well, one nice thing about it is that at least Korea deals with the problem. We'd probably just bail them out and perpetuate the problem in the USA. |

...and I'm sure you think banks (incorporated and non), credit unions, and S&Ls are all banks as well... Riddle me the difference between a 저축 은행 and an 은행 in Korea and then we can discuss risk benefit analysis. I await your reply....

Giving banks more money so they can cheat the hard working class is a bad idea. Did not fix u.s. mess, yet.

| C'mon. It was named TOMATO Bank. There's something wrong with your judgement if you put money in a bank named after a rank smelling vegetable that hecklers throw, or that was once thought to be poisonous. |

I have to admit I shook my head when I first saw "Tomato Bank". I found it hard to take them seriously. But that doesn't mean they weren't legit.
I have full confidence that the Korean government will intervene and put an end to this crisis. Then we'll see the won slowly regain its lost strength over the coming months. |

+1
It's a very poor choice for a name. Good for a kimbop place but not for a bank (or investment bank)
I do feel for the ones who got some money there though.

| Correction on it being a vegetable, though. It's a rank smelling fruit. |

Exactly. I just opened an account with Pie-In-Your-Face Bank.

Also, just so everyone knows, I mentioned it in the other thread, Tomato 2 bank is still a legit bank and is still allowed to operate here in Korea. It's the main branch of Tomato Bank that is struggling.
Tomato 2 banks (Daejeon, Busan, Myeongdong, and Sonryeong) are still doing well. They are above the BIS necessary of 5%.
The even mentioned on the website that is the main Tomato Banks fail, that the Tomato 2 banks will still operate. |

Well thank goodness I still have my holdings in 1000 Year-Reich Bank, Pinochet Vineyards, Kodak Film, and Netscape. |

I don't usually condone suicide but~
if only Wall street execs had the guts he did...
America might be able to restore confidence in the finance sector. |

Completely agree. Don't condone it but wouldn't mind if they did chose to leap. |
