I am in a small school, so I have almost all the classes with the students and co-teachers. So I get to see what they do each time. That helps.

But, the book is extremely too slow. The CD-Rom material is OK but too basic. It is a good effort gone to waste, because the students are so much more capable in how much vocabulary and sentence patterns they can absorb, and the material has no activities that give students freedom to use the sentence - which is vital to move from memorization to utilization skill.

I was fine last semester when I was free to add what I thought each class needed. I'll be able to get by this semester if my primary co-teacher allows me to add to the vocabulary and sentence patterns for each class.

The co-teacher I hate teaching with really restricts the vocabulary and sentences to the book, and two weeks for each chapter with stuff most of the students have long known already is painful for them and me. The fact this teacher feels free to interrupt me at any moment and expects me to change on the fly makes it almost too much to tolerate...

I do 75% my own work and 26% textbook. I download work rarely but I always modify it to suite the way I teach.

I had to teach an entire Unit from the text book this week and show a movie for 10 minutes because it was the only way I could bribe them into actually doing that boring crap. I was even bored teaching it.
