Is kimchi a dish? I'm not really sure what constitutes a 'dish', but I think it should be something that you can eat as a meal or a snack. Who eats just a bowl of kimchi?

I second the idea that we may be simply arguing over an irrelevant online poll stacked with Korean teenagers responding.

Kimchi is very nice and I admit to missing it if I don't eat it. It is good for you, and has health benefits, and allows you to avoid colds, replace lost limbs, be elected pope, be resurrected from death, etc.

But it's not a meal like spaghetti or the others on the list. In my seven years here I have never seen someone sit with a plate of kimchi and a glass of water. At minimum people eat it with rice. It's a little like saying that pickles or cheese is a high-ranked dish.

Notice how the Chosun Ilbo prints only a picture of kimchi despite it being #12? I'm a little surprised the article even bothers to mention the other dishes.

I would have picked galbijim or samgetung instead, or even galbi meself.

I should stop skimming headlines.

I though it said CNN poll says kimchi most rank food.
