You can still get Hotuk in the summer, at least the last Korean summer I experienced a few years back ...
They're popular sides for patbingsoo so usually you'll see them hand in hand.
One place I remember is the food court under Hyundai Department Store at COEX (is this still there?). There are places that sell patbingsoo, and they'll often have hotuk on the side.
This is from 5 years ago.. :D

Hahaha I know an English gent (a friend's old man) who absolutely detests the stuff.. :)
I reckon it's pretty good. And it's certainly pleasant during the warmer months.. :D

chap-ssal (sticky rice) doughnuts, PatBingSoo, Takgochi (chicken-on-a-stick), and Smokey Bacon Chips are my favorites.
Avoid the chips with the angry looking Mexican child who looks like he's taking a dump. I don't know what they really are, but they taste like that child's feces covered with honey. |

| Wow, I cannot believe how many people *like* Korean snacks! They are crap! The chips/crisps taste like cardboard, the chocolate snacks are low on chocolate flavour, and the cakes or pastries are mostly stodge or sponge with no flavour and little filling. Boring! And they individually wrap each cookie as if it was something special! |

I have 2:
1. Binch biscuits (we have a lot of fun with that one )
2. Hotuk - they are SOOOOOO delicious but with summer coming i may have to wait 6 months to see them again now. |
Highway rest areas! Isn't that the best progress ever!? |

I've not noticed the chips having a cardboard taste. I've not noticed the chocolate snacks being low on chocolate flavor. Koreans don't pump everything full of sugar so maybe that's your definition of "crap". They individually wrap cookies because, I believe, they don't pump them full of preservatives. |

Dried squid is foul. It stinks too.
Are you also one of those people that freaks out if a can of tuna is opened anywhere in the same house as you?

I wouldn't say freak out... But I certainly don't like it. |
