|
|
If anyone knows anywhere I can train in Suwon for some sort of contact sport (muay thai/mma/bjj/anything really) please let me know. I dont want to do Tae Kwon Do and it seems all the locations I can find online have classes @ 8pm in seoul, I live in Suwon so I cant make it.
ALSO
I read this on an earlier post on this sticky and wanted to know if anyone had anymore information?
From BrianInSuwon
Suwon
Style: Muay Thai
Directions: Walk out of Suwon Station and go down the street thats right in front of you (the street that ends at the subway station). About 100 yards down the street, at the light where the pedestrian crosswalk is located, there should be a Mauy Thai gym on the second floor in one of the buildings on the right. Its easier to see from the other side of the street. Look for an ALPHA stationary store, it's on the second floor just to the left of that shop. The training sessions begin around 5-5:30, then one at 6:30-7pm and again at 9.
Thanks a lot for your help!

Anyone interested in Korean martial arts in Itaewon area, this is a really good school.

The sabunim really knows what he's doing and is a great teacher. He teaches taekwondo and hapkido, which he adds a lot of yongmoodo and judo to. If you have any questions, just PM me. |

Hello,
I am looking for a foreigner-friendly taekwondo gym in Suwon. I live in Ingyaedong but am willing to go as far as the station or Yeongtong if there is a reputable gym at which I can begin training. Does anybody have a gym they'd like to recommend? Thanks.
edit: Also, what is a reasonable monthly fee at a gym? Am looking to train maybe 3 times a week. |

Urban Combatives/Reality-based self defence
Hi. Is anyone interested in training in practical self protection?
I have done a bit before in classes and with a training partner. I'm looking for a partner over here, or maybe a few of us to get together and train. Just cool guys n girls who want to handle themselves, no weird politics violent attitude or whatever.
More info on combatives here
http://www.urbancombatives.com/m_intro/about.htm
I'm thinking of practising basic strikes and defending, then doing a lot of soft skills and small scenarios to deal with situations as this is the most important. Pretty much the same thing every time, and maybe one new thing.
If you don't have experience, I can show you some stuff to get you started. I'm not an instructor or very advanced, but it's all about the basics not whizz bang techniques.
I am in Yongin near Seoul...can travel within reason/alternate days etc.
If interested pm me. |

I am moving to Seoul in a couple of months and wish to resume my study of these two arts. I was wondering if anyone knew of any good teachers in these arts. I will be residing in Kangnam but the distance doesn't matter.
thanks |

his post subject says "Anyone know of any good tai chi chuan or chi kung teachers" so i assume these two. lol
and to answer your question, there is quite a few tai chi schools in seoul, BUT their hours vary, i know one school that is open on tues. thurs, and sat. then another school open on mon, weds, and sat. so its up to you really, but if you want to look yourself in korea its called 태극권
il post a couple links when i have time |

in case anyone was looking for a really good place to place to learn judo (유도), i've been going yoon's judo in seocho (about 200m from 서초역 and 100m from 교데역) and it's pretty awesome place. |

yeah my bad on the spelling. for some reason his website is down. but i pay 110,000KRW/month and i can come to as many classes as i want. my first month i paid 200K and got a judogi, but you can buy one online for much cheaper.
when i first started i used to come to the 7AM class on MWF, then during intensives i switched to the evening 7PM class that's everyday (but i only went 3 days a week). just recently he opened up another class at 8PM that's everyday, but not as many people.
in general, it's a good place. you should know that there's only one instructor that speaks english well and master yoon speaks barely any (i think he knows japanese though), but he's a nice guy and funny as hell. |

Any particular reason its 110,000 a month? The ones I went to in the past were 50000 a month and they let me borrow a gi for free. Considering the judo club at Yonsei lets you train for free, and has serious practitioners (had guys who compete internationally), 110,000 seems really steep to me.
Also, dongdaemun sells gis around 40,000. Not top notch, but they work. I've used mine for a couple years for both judo and BJJ, hasn't ripped yet. |
