I need to do an online certification for Korvia. They have given me three recommendations:

ATI : American TESOL Institute http://www.koreaenglishjobs.com/
ITTT : http://www.teflonline.net/
i-to-I : http://www.i-to-i.com/tefl/online-tefl/

I read through each program's website description of their course. I found ATI the most attractive, except that their website has numerous grammar errors. It sounds like it was not written by a native speaker. That's kind of weird. Has anybody here done any of these online certifications? Are they all kind of the same? The second two listed above are significantly cheaper than the other two. If it's all the same I might as well take the cheapest one.

For use in Korea, take the cheapest one that is 100 hours or more in duration.

Who knows. I'm doing the ITTT one right now. It seemed to have a lot of people recommending it on this board. Not that that necessarily means anything...

I did the ITTT one. Got me my pay bump and it's actually fairly useful. Plenty of basic grammar is covered, and you'll get some decent ideas on how to improve your lessons and class. It's no CELTA, or sit-down-in-person class, but it's not a total waste either. For the money, and the raise you get with PS, and the few nuggets of information in it, I'd recommend all new people do it as a minimum.

It doesn't really matter to me and I don't think I need to spend too much time looking into which one is best. Since I got a few recommendations for ITTT then I'll just do that one. I'll start it sometime this week. Does anybody know how long it takes to get through 120 hour course if you spend all your time on it? I got nothing else to do so I'll be spending most of my time on this.

hahaha, hey warhammer820. You're really keeping an eye on my progress. Not much new. I've spoken to 2 recruiters, Korvia and RBI. Basically they both want me to get my documents together and send them as soon as can. No job offers yet.

Yeah, I am really interested because I might be in the same boat next year. I might start my CBC in January or February since I graduate in May. I would like to go in June or sometime close to that.

Would any of these be useful for someone looking to apply to uni jobs?

There is a 120 hour course with tutor support for $295 and a 100 hour course without tutor support for $190. Would the 100 hour course be sufficient? Is tutor support really necessary?

I found a thread all about this online course:
http://forums.eslcafe.com/korea/viewtopic.php?t=123773&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=30
I don't think I'll be taking the class with tutor support.

Can I get a yay or nay on the extra $100 and 20 hours for the tutor support?

I'm not sure where the 20 additional hours comes from, because it is the same course. Without the tutor support you take a long test at the end of the 20 units. With tutor support you turn in one worksheet at a time and they get graded. Once you have completed all 20 worksheets the course is completed. So basically it boils down to waiting the easy or hard way out. Do you want to take a 4-6 hour test at the end of the course and possibly fail or turn in worksheets?

According to what people have said on that other thread, the test can take a lot more than 4-6 hours to complete. I'm not sure if I'm going to have 10-15 hours of undisturbed free time to take the test. Maybe the tutor support is a better option. I'm still debating, but I'm thinking about going on the website and paying for the course without tutor support right now.

I took the i-to-i course a few years ago because it was the cheapest one. You REALLY don't need the tutor support - the course was very simple. With that said, I learned a few useful tips and have implemented some of the suggested games into my lessons.
