Hey guys,

I was wondering if anyone has any information about the Langcon school in Mok-dong, Seoul or any information about the company in general? To my understanding, Langcon is under the same ownership as Avalon but run as a separate entity. Did a quick search for both Langcon and Avalon and found both positive and negative opinions of the companies. I'm hoping someone might have more specific information about the schools, especially the one in Mok-dong. Thanks!

I work at an Avalon in Daegu which has a LangCon, Champ and Ivy all in one.

I teach 1 LangCon class a day, and then do my normal 5-6 Ivy classes (middle school kids) Though I think this is uncommon for most Avalons.

As you're in Seoul do you know if you're working for Avalon English the franchise or Avalon corporation? The difference being Avalon English = many different owners = many different experiences, good and bad. Corporation is the flagship company, suit and tie lark with just one owner, so it's probably a lot more reliable.

For what it's worth my experience with Avalon and LangCon has been great. LangCon is a challenge for me, because it is the first time I've taught children who barely know the alphabet.

You'll get paid on time every month and there is a good infrastructure in place, however expect it to be 'dynamic' i.e.... every week new last minute changes, but that's to keep up with the competition.

I believe it's run by the corporation and not a franchise. I hear more good things about the franchised schools than the company run schools but I guess it makes sense that franchises can be hit or miss. Is your school franchised?

And I also hear that they will be starting Saturday classes soon. Is that true?

This school screwed me out of a job once by lying through their teeth. Have fun.

My school is a franchise and it's really good. Corporate Avalon, I'd imagine will be good too. I wouldn't worry at all.

Working on a Saturday hasn't been announced yet and in here was the first time I had heard about it. If you are going to Corporate, then expect it. Franchise may take a few more months to kick in... hopefully.
