It doesn't matter. This was supposed to be about football banter. Do you honestly think I believe that the dodgy ref is firm evidence for corruption? I didn't see you jump in to defend Italian honor after the joke by catman.
Take some time off from the Korea Defence League and learn to relax.  |

If you look at pages 1 and 2 there are plenty of people who say Italy could/would have beaten S.K if they had tried a little harder. Looks like the Italian Defense League is full up already. No spots left for me unfortunately.
But if it comes to that, Italy definitely had a better team (at least on paper). I think they took this game way too casually..no one expected Korea to beat them and they paid for it. |

if you say "wanna play some footy"? it means play some rugby.
soccer = football in England. I am not from England, maybe the poms refer to footy as football too, so what do they call rugby? |

Better yet, just remove it altogether. It truly has run its course now. I might rename it to "Korean Milfs Best in the World" - just to mess with people. |

I'm fine with you bagging Korea. It's not perfect but it's good enough for me and I don't need other people t like something for me to enjoy it.
2002 was my favorite World Cup. I know it wasn't the best one (I still remember the stupid ball they used) but it was the one in the best timeslot for me (didn't have to get up at 1:00 am etc) so I watched a really high % of the matches.
Anyway your recent responses seem to indicate you are not taking yourself too seriously..... sorry I assumed you were American.

The fact you call it footy makes me a little wary as to the truth of your lifetime claims.
Korea also had a legitimate goal ruled out in one of those games..... I think biased refereeing 101 teaches you not to rule out goals for the team you are supposed to be fixing the game for.
I watched 2002 from back home, completely neutral as I had no ties to Korea or their opponents. There wasn't any feeling that Korea cheated at the time in our press or commentary. The only time it got play was when Ahn was sacked from his Italian club, and then it was 100% on Ahn's side as the Italians were portrayed as bad losers. The Aussie press is notoriously anti football too and would have jumped up and down a the whiff of a bad news story.
It just seems to be Americans, Italians and Portuguese who think that and they all seem to want to believe it.
I have seen much worse refereeing displays than that and the European countries used to always get the benefit of the doubt just because refs were too scared to call against them.
It's normally the fox that is most concerned about the hens so you can see why Italians believe it must have been fixed..... It�s what they would have done.
The Ities and the Spanish waiters were robbed. More so the Spanish waiters!! It was in Fifa's interest to see two Asian terms progress that year. As a result of this the global brand of 'football' could spread and open up new financial markets in countries such as Korea.
Koreans didn't give a dam about 'footy' prior to 2002, that's a fact. Fast forward 11 years and it's all over the box (t.v.). Fifa and clubs such as Man United have profitable very nicely from this new found interest. Indeed, did the K League exist prior to 2002? I think not!! Did the Asian Champions League exist? I think not!!! Did Man United make millions of pounds from Koreans prior to 2002? I think not!!
Sepp Blatter, the garlic eating, French poofter is a disgrace. He's corrupt and Fifa is corrupt at all levels. Did Fifa cheat? You bet your last hogwon Won they did!!! Did Korea? No, I don't think so!!
However, they have a history of bribing officials in big sporting events. Seoul Olympics 1988, boxing final is a good example of that!!  |
