Had Lasik surgery last May at BS Eye Center in Gangnam. It's one of the most popular and well-known eye centers in Korea. A lot of Korean talents have had Lasik done there. We decided to have Lasik done there after a lot of recommendations from friends who have gone there.
Both my wife and I haven't had any problems after getting Lasik. The eye center is always busy with a lot of people. Very professional and courteous. There are surgeons there that can speak English for those having difficulty understanding and speaking Korean.
If anyone needs more information, feel free to ask. |
How much did it cost for both eyes? I am hoping for a surgery that won't lose my capability to see in the dark. I heard that the white halo can show up when you see bright things at night and interferes with your ability to see properly. |

Hey here's a question for all the people who have had it done:
I had LASEK done about 2 and a half months ago and it was great. However, now I'm noticing in my right eye just this little grey floater that I can only really see in sunlight or if i'm looking at a white cpu screen or something. It's kinda annoying and i'm just wondering if you experienced any floaters like that long after you had the surgery?
Also - did you notice in the first 6 months one of your eyes get weaker? I've noticed this in my right eye as well that it is quite a bit weaker than my left eye which appears perfect. Kinda annoying since i notice it now and then and probably gives me a few headaches because of the uneven vision like i had in the first few weeks post-operation.
Anyways would apppreciate it if you could shed some light on your personal experience healing up after LASEK. Cheers thanks for your time
p.s. i'm abroad right now so i can't go back to korea and ask the doctors unfortunately. If no one has experienced this i'm going to have to get my eyes checked at a clinic here. |

Hey,
Any posters/readers in Busan that can recommend a clinic? Would be much appreciated; the web doesn't offer much in terms of recs. for Busan, not that I see anyway |

Three pages of talk on LASIK and not one mention of the actual technologies used - which makes a pretty big difference as to the outcome and price.
There are two main components to the LASIK procedure - cutting the flap in the cornea, and reforming the tissue under the flap. Both components are very important and IMO people should really do their research and find out why the expensive treatments are expensive.
In terms of making the flap, there are two ways to go about it: blade- and blade-less (makes the cut using a laser). From what I've found, until a few months ago, there were pros and cons to both - however, recently there's a new blade-less machine called the Zeimer Crystal Line Femtosecond Laser that does away with pretty much all of the disadvantages of bladeless flap cutting. This simply goes by the brand name of 'Crystal Lasik' in Korea. If you paid anything up to about 1.5 million won for your eyes, you likely had the flap cut using a blade - which will likely never heal.
The Excemer laser actually reshapes your eyeball - there are quite a few brands out there: DaVinci, Alegretto, Amaris are three of the newer ones. The one to beat these days seems to be the Amaris 750 in terms of 6D eyeball tracking and laser strength/speed.
The one check-up I went to quoted 1.4 for 'New Amaris' (which is actually the Amaris 500 machine - still not bad, but not the best) blade surgery with a company discount. (for reference, the bog-standard lasik there was quoted to me at 900,000 with my discount)
I'll be going for more consults in the coming days and will report on my progress - but I'll be focusing (ha!) on the Crystal Lasik with some kind of modern Excemer laser tech - so it will probably be a bit more expensive than the prices quoted thus far in this thread.
I think it would be valuable to hear about the specific technologies used for your surgeries rather than just price and location. Each location likely has several options for eye surgery and it's pretty much impossible to compare prices without taking the tech into consideration. |

Dream Eye, St. Mary's and BS Eye all seem to have the Amaris 500 but a Google search shows a clinic in Gangnam called ILoveEye has the Amaris 750. |

Would you trust the place if the place give you a discount?

Has anyone here had Lasik eye surgery in Korea? Or does anyone know anything about it? I am seriously thinking about getting it. I'm getting tired of looking for my glasses in the morning and having a headache before I can find them. Contacts give me red eyes no matter how well I clean them.
I would prefer to do it with a doctor that has trained AND practiced in the states. I don't care how much it costs, just want quality.
PLEASE let me know if you know anything. It is really GREATLY appreciated.
