For those who have down EPIK. I realize you wont know the school you are placed until orientation, but what about the area. When do you find out about which city/province you will go to?

At about the same time.

That said if you are hired outside the normal hiring period you can know weeks ahead in time. My recruiter told me where I was being placed three weeks in advance.

I didn't go through EPIK and I picked my own school.

If you click on it, it covers up your game of Scrabble. Laughing

Do you play on ISC?

If you like educated career orientated Koreans than public school is the way to go. If you don't want to be around Korean adults don't work in a public school. Seriously, it's just as simple as that. A Korean public school is cultural immersion to the max.

Personally I love it and my wife and I have been here a longtime. My colleagues and students are awesome.

I know a lot of Korean adults, but I find teachers pretty stuck up and look down on foreigners.

When I worked at PS I counted the weeks to the next vacation.

I was playing on Facebook. I haven't played in a long time, though, because I don't deskwarm anymore.

I haven't had any programs except with one teacher years ago but she was an outcast even amongst Koreans. For me the real joy of the job is my colleagues. From the older teachers treating me like a son or younger brother to the younger ones asking me for teaching tips.

I work at a PS.

2 mil extra pay for extra classes.
If there is any event I or test I get to stay at home.
9 weeks holiday. + 6 weeks where I play football for 1 hour a day and go home.
I teach 27 classes x 3 every year after that I can do what I want.
There is no way that is happening at a hakwon.

How do you have 9 weeks hoiday?

I got 2 weeks off in Summer and will get 2 weeks again in Winter. And that's it.

If school is out, I still have to come in.

And even when I do camp from 9 to 12, I have to stay til 4.20.

I chose my school. Actually had a choice of three different ones in the city where I wanted to be. Though to be fair, while I work for EPIK I got the job through the regional education board and not through EPIK.

That's the way to do it (or was, at least) if you want a choice.
