Who's tried the carne asada tacos at Baja Fresh or La Salsa or King Taco (taqueria chains that are popular in Southern California)? In your opinion, are the best tacos at the various Mexican places in Seoul at least equivalent to these?

When I think of a good taco, I think of the roach coach tacos in Los Angeles - just some marinated meat, cilantro, onions and some salsa inside two corn tortillas. Of course, some are better than others but at $1-$2 per taco, you get the most bang for your buck.

I'm in LA right now and I had some King Taco last night. Good shit! THIS is what a good taco should look like:

I've compiled a list of Mexican joints in town - did I miss any? Which ones have you tried? And who makes the best/most authentic Mexican tacos?

Choi's Tacos in Sinchon
Three Kings Truck in Hongdae - do these guys only operate on Saturday nights in Hongdae?
Taco Man in Hongdae
Dos Tacos in Gangnam and Apgu
Tomatillo in Yeoksamdong
On The Border
Taco Rico

Chois' Tacos in Sinchon are the worst tacos you'll ever have in your life. Not to mention the owner is a douche.

I'm so glad they opened up taco bell right across the street from the toolbag. Wonder if he's still in business after those ripoff prices on his menu.

I think the best tacos that I've tried in Seoul are the Tacos El Pastor (pork) at Dos Tacos. Yeah Dos Tacos is a chain so the quality may vary depending on the location, but I've found these tacos to be consistently good and tastier than their other taco offerings which include soft and hard shell tacos. They are still pricey at 3,300 KRW per taco, and they don't even come close to the tacos I had at King Taco last night, but they're still pretty damn good.

Is the three kings taco truck the one in the middle of the wide street?

that place sucks too. not as bad as chois' though.

I'm from SoCal and love me some taco bell though. plenty of people there love it too. the people here bragging about being from close to mexico and thinking its cool to hate taco bell are such losers.

Chois is some raunchy stuff. The few times I went there the meat tasted like rubber. Just nasty. I think that place gives Panchos a run for its money as the worst Mexican joint on the peninsula, and that's saying quite a bit. With TB across the street, it'll interesting to see how much longer Chois stays afloat. TB is the best thing that's happened to Mexican food in Korea, as the local joints can no longer get away with serving dog crap wrapped in a tortilla shell, and everyone is forced to up their game or file for bankruptcy. Sink or swim.
