| OP, I brought 500 quid with me. It was more than enough for the first month - I had 4 weeks from landing before pay day. Depending on where you work, that could extend by a couple of weeks. The exchange rate isn't as good at the moment so 6-700 would be a safer bet, and then use your card only if you need it (you will get stung for transaction fees). If you're working in a public school, then 500 could be enough. |

I came over from the UK too earlier in the year. Find out before you leave when your first pay day will be. I arrived in the middle of the month so it was prorated for 2 weeks.
Larger franchise academies will also give you an advance if needed, but I came over with about �400 and it was more than enough for my first two full weeks. I'd hazzard a guess that if living thrifty 500-600 quid is more than enough. I'd keep the rest in your account. |

Good grief. Has the supply pool of newbie teachers been watered down so much that TTompatz has to do their thinking for them? Given some of the questions asked now-a-days one wonders if anyone is actually raising their children in the west.

You shouldn't use the " "; it is considered both unpolished and low class (as is making fun of someone is)..

Just change it while in Korea. Best thing is use your cc then find one of those currency exchange places.
