When first came here in 2005 to teach . The English level of most of my middle schools students was not what my grade 4 elementary school students English level is now. I have seen such a vast improvement in the Public School English education over the last six years. In 2005 most of my colleagues could not speak English very well but now most of them speak pretty well. The quality of NT coming over is also better than ever. Most of the NT in my program are very attractive and many have advanced degrees.

I am afraid that the NT are doing such a great job that Korean English teachers won't need us anymore.

Anyway congrats to all the very hard work many Native Teachers have done, no matter what anyone says on this website.

Oh, and another thank you for the great website [Deleted mention of rival website, sorry] and all the wonderful resources that Native Teachers have created over the years.

Mod Note: Some users seek to purposely promote the rival website that is chalk full of TOS violators who had to find another home. Don't advertise the site here.

This isn't the usual negative, sarcastic and self satisfied garbage I read on here every day. Are you on the right forum?

Nice to see a bit of positivity Smile

I'm also glad that Native English Teachers are coming here to give my country some diversity and logic.

I second the OP.

Having dealt with thousands of students & hundreds of K-teachers over the last 12 years, I'd say the pace of progress in english in Korea is actually quite astonishing. Credit to Koreans & some credit to us too.

I agree.

I have seen a dramatic improvement in my students, the Korean teachers I have known, the methods that are used and even the credentials and teaching skills of the other FTs I work with. Things are definitely getting better!!!

Great thread idea OP.

I suggest everyone PM the Op to know what this rival website is.
Competition is a good thing, especially when the competition actually provides decent resources.

TOS violators... scary.

It's a site chalk full of banned users who seek to keep posting about that website to drum up business for it. It violates the TOS. If you don't like that, go elsewhere. It's that simple. We have our rules and if some banned users or their friends want to post about that site on purpose and create threads for that purpose, we won't have it.
