No you won't. You need to understand that any person cannot make perfect decisions 100% of the time. No matter the country, judges, presidents, government leaders will leave you scratching your head wondering what they were thinking.
Evidence: Dukakis and the criminal he let out of jail (the name escapes me right now)
The Korean people and authorities will correct that mistake, you do not need to worry your head about it. |

| I believe I called the decision a mistake. It is a good thing that the Korean nation does not have to give an account to the people of Dave's. This country would be in a real mess if they did. Remember you people aren't judge of Korea, you are not perfect and your mistakes match many, many Korean ones you claim they make. |

Again you do not grasp the breadth of your audience. Not all posters on Dave's are in Korea on work visas. Some are Korean, some are residents, others are in the process of attaining or have attained citizenship.
These people have a much deeper understand of Korea and Korean culture than the vicarious experience you have gleaned from your students has given you.
So please take your own advice and as a migrant foreign worker don't comment on what is best for Korea. Because the best thing for Korea is to get varied opinion and ideas for improvement from a variety of sources. You attempt to limit that. It's detrimental to Korea's future and people that matter, including those on Dave's resent white knight efforts such as those that you display.
Put simply, your supposed defense of Korea actually hurts it. You are in the same group of people that you yourself say shouldn't meddle. So don't. Don't comment on what Korea needs and doesn't. It's not your concern. It's ours.

This is a systemic fault that has been repeated time and time again, and one which many Koreans are avidly opposed to. Do I need to be Pakistani in order to say that honor killings are wrong? |

Second, the article says that the assailants reached an agreement with the victim. |
Good point. This "agreement" probably came in the form of a blood money payment to the victim and/or her family. By no means am I agreeing with the reduced sentence, but this would definitely explain it. |

Calender is full of junk, but his opinion isn't invalid because he is Korean. His opinion is junk because its way over the top, uber-defensive, and devoid of any semblance of humor and "The Dave's Family" that at least normal bashers and apologists bring to the table.
I really don't care for what he's writing but this 'because they are Korean, they are somehow unable to make a point or their opinion should be rejected out of hand' is intellectual laziness of the first degree.
At least to me that's what seems to be being insinuated in the last couple of comments.
Stick to the invalidity of the facts. |

You can't take Calendar seriously because he'll dismiss anything that exposes his weak arguments.
Just ask the_curious.
I loved living in Korea, but the stories about rape and shiz just made me sick. not physically, but mentally. It was depressing reading all those stories.
the u.s marine one is horrifying. |

How'd you like the reasoning of the judge? The best part was that he took into consideration the fact that the perpetrators did not want to be punished!
Brilliant example of jurisprudence! Why didn't anyone ever think of that before? |
