I am new here, so I hope that I got the right forum.

I'll be studying in February 2012 at the SKKU university for 4 months and right now I am checking the various accommodation options.

Of course, it would be the easiest way to stay at the dormitory of the school, but it is not really tempting for me to share a room for 4 months.

At first a research showed me that Goshiwons would be a cheap option. But after I read about the details, I think its not an alternative.

At second I read about Hasuks, I suppose the quality is better, but what can I expect?

At third I heart about one-room studios.

So what should I choose? I don't know. I can spend about 400'000 to 800'000 won per month. That's not much, I know, but its not nothing so I would like to get the most of it.

I have a Korean girlfriend who lives, as Korean do, at her parents house. So I would like to get a room with some privacy and freedom.

Does anyone have a recommendation for me?

I assume you are talking about the SKKU campus in DaeHongno, Seoul. 800,000 won per month should get you a suitable place for your needs but the key money will vary - you might be lucky to find one that is 5 million won but most around university areas are about 10 million won.

Just know that university areas are typically expensive. Also, because your are limited to 4 months many landlords may not take you up for such a short lease.

Another option might be to take a look at serviced apartments. They are becoming popular in Korea. Obviously, there are the high-end ones but have a look around you might find something in your budget. Dongdaemun (2 subway stops from SKKU) has a number of serviced apartments that might be in your budget (I am not sure about the exact cost).

Also, contact the university and ask them about off-campus accommodation that they may have.

I study at SKK (Jongno Campus / Daehakno), although I don't live in the immediate area and haven't dealt with apts there. I assume you've contacted the International Office at school?

A lot of my classmates live in International House. The whole sharing thing didn't necessarily excite them either, but you get used to it and it's a great option if you're only there 4 months. Use the money you save to treat the girlfriend to a love motel twice a month.

Otherwise you're looking at a goshiwon or similar. With all the new students coming in at that time of year I can't imagine apartment landlords being interested in a 4-month lease. In any case, get your girl to start ringing people up, or maybe find a forum for students at SKK.
