| I'd like to know if the people who pepper posts in English with Hangeul expressions do the reverse when they are writing in Korean, and pepper their Korean prose with romanised expressions that 'look dumb' in Hangeul. |

Barbecued pork could be anything. It's a pig roasted on a spit, to be specific. "Tong/통" means "whole" essentially.

I am now able to potentially order such a thing - yes, I have considered it before.
And what's with the condescending bit in bold about using Korean to express easy concepts? No need to be a jerk and act like you're better than others because you don't use Korean writing in your posts. It's a f***ing message board. |

Personally i'd rather see the odd bit of Hangul here and there to help me remember or learn new words, foods etc. This only works if people include a translation with it though, otherwise its useless.
I know the daves rules state that you're supposed to use professional English on here but the amount of pedantry, arrogance and infighting on here means that this forum will never be anywhere near a professional environment anyway. Might as well give up on that now.... |

As I pointed out before you can do a pretty quick Google search and find an English definition for doenjangnyeo.
Look, to all those guy who arguing against me or the OP, let's just look at the facts.
Some people who read these boards will either not be able to read Korean or will not know the meaning of a word written in Korean - fact
By writing a word in Korean you are therefore excluding these people from the conversation. At least until they get the word translated. Fact
As native speakers of English we should be able to communicate any concept with each other in English. Fact
Therefore writing words in Korean is unnecessary - Fact
Whether or or you prefer writing in Korean or it's educational, or whether or not the people who can't read or speak Korean should have learned properly, or whether you mind or don't mind other posters writing in Korean, is in my mind immaterial to the point I was trying to make. |
I regret making the effort to read this post.
Are these the type of people we send over to Korea? These ignorant guys plus the military dudes... It's just too much for little Korea to handle. |
