| I'll renew if offered, but does the workload decrease by the last couple of weeks? What happens when everything from the book is taught and exams are over? |

I was hustled to the apartment, post-haste after work and told to immediately pack up and leave as my replacement had already arrived.
I was given the benefit of a full hour in which to do this task.
OOh the joy, the sheer joy!!

Wow. I was getting visions of the whole school standing to the British national anthem at school and the staff seeing me off at the airport. Some of them in tears. I don't like the sound of this |

Sorry, that was my last hagwon job.
The last PS had me clean my apartment and pack up all
Their stuff for them as they were cancelling the lease on the place.
Then I had to return to the school and drop off the key before heading out of town.
The school before that had a bit of a goodbye meeting for me, in which I read out a speech in Korean, and my co-teacher complained that it was too short. (even though she had gone over it with me the week before)
"Our last teacher spoke for twice as long as you".
Yes, but your last teacher had a Korean wife to help him out.
If she thought there was a problem with the speech, why did she wait till after I had presented it before complaining? |

Really? They had a problem with your going away speech? What was the rest of the year like?
There wasn't really anything special on my last day at my ps. I was taken around to say good bye to all of the teachers and administration in the school, most of whom I had not had any interaction with since the day I arrived and was introduced to them. They made kind of a big deal out of me going to say goodbye to the principal. I think most of the students didn't know it was my last day.
I also finished cleaning out my desk and returned the laptop they gave me.
I had extended my visa by a few days. Since no one was replacing me I was able to stay at my apartment during that time. |

| My pay was withheld until after bank closing time as my school blackmailed me to get money for the landlord. This was a private elementary school, not a PS, fyi. |

Its like every job, if you meet people and get to know them, they'll do a pot luck or do a gathering, if you don't know anyone, just pack your stuff and go.

My last days have been pretty lame the usual 'highlights' are usually some goodbye dinner with other teachers at the school. Although one of my Korean-American friends at another school got presents, candy and lots of letters from students and some teachers.
Supposedly if you work at a boys school you'll probably get ziltch from students but girls are more likely to do the gift and letter writing thing. |

I was stuck in a love motel for an extra week because the former teacher wanted to stay a little longer.
Even more sparkling. |

They had fireworks and a big party. Ok, maybe im exaggerating. Get together pot luck.
