Gee that wasn't insulting to asians at all...noooo, of course not, it was a 'joke' or 'sarcasm'.
Quick reply (and just as funny) from an asian person could be:
Not to be pedantic, I think I might have lipo insertion to make myself nice and plump so I fit better in Western nations where plump is considered quite acceptable.
On the OP, his point was confused and replied to. |

| I wouldn't disagree that Koreans put their eyes under the knife, wear colour lenses, and use skin whitening creams to look more Western, in the same way that white people use sunbeds because we like the way people from hotter climates look. Nothing wrong with either scenario. It's a shame that a few choose to make it a race issue. |

is this a race issue? moreover, is korean a race or nationality? maybe they perceive themselves as a race, but they certainly are of the asian RACE just like the japanese, chinese so on and so forth. i simply pointed this out as a national/cultural phenomenon of koreans. granted most societies are looks oriented, i just happen to think koreans take it to the extreme. funny how people keep the race card ready to play in their back pockets at all times. |

| The Koreans aren't of the same race as Chinese... They are Tangusic (I believe the Japanese are too, except the native Ainu who are virtually gone). The Chinese are ethnically Han. |

This audacious bid to wrestle the audience away from your earlier misguided remarks has failed. Your observations on the Korean race further evidencing why your first arguement holds no weight with those past the 6th grade level.

Damn all of those google searches that reveal "The Korean Race" hits.
I take it that a withdrawal of that earlier postition is imminent. |

Absolutely. That's what the 3rd October national holdiday is about. The birth of Tangun. |

Rapier,
Sometimes your humor borders on the grotestque.
This of course assumes that your last post was meant to be taken as a joke...otherwise, you need help my man. |

Perhaps I stand corrected on Koreans being a race or not. But I wouldn't be withdrawing much since I asked the question and explained that I was zeroing in on koreans from a new cultural trend standpoint. i.e. korean natives of korea are not exactly cultured the same way as korean-americans. case in point. |

I know this is a mistake, but I just had to preserve it here for posterity, tickled my funny bone. As you can see I'm a single cell organism, easily amused ...

Ok, i think i will comment on this one as well. I will start with a question. If someone lets say from the US suntanned in their back yard wouldnt they become darker? How is your skin naturally darkening to protect you from the harmful ultraviolet rays of the sun "trying to look like someone from a hotter climate?" As for sun beds, alot of my friends use them just before travelling to ensure their skin would be ready for the extreme temperature change, and thus protecting their skin over a period of time instead of burning their skin when they frist arrive. Just a though. |

haha no no.. many do.. but they can do that naturally. That is my point. Darker skin can be a product of more exposure to the sun and thus more ultraviolet rays. It is not something that an artificial construct like going under the knife to get your eyes done. It is not something that can be done natural |

It can be the same in essence royjones.
The fact it can be achieved "naturally" does not change the motivation that sometimes comes behind it. |
