Right, fail to argue the point and consider the fact that running around in your underwear is just idiotic and insulting to those who take an issue seriously and expect to be addressed as an adult when it comes to voting issues.

No, just call me grandpa. Really using the old noodle on that one.

And for the record I voted for Kucinich in 04 and Ron Paul in 08 as well as for decriminalization.

The thing is Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich did things to earn my support like giving speeches and writing books, not acting like an infant.

They respected themselves and they respected me to address an issue as though I was an actual thinking adult.

Did it ever occur that instead of me needing to not act like grandpa and "mellow out man", that maybe those people and people who support them need to grow up and stop trying these gimmicky solutions to address problems and do that "boring" stuff of writing books and holding teach-ins and protest rallies that feature eloquence, not dancing.

Ron Paul goes jogging every day and then spends hours on the grueling campaign trail and is probably in better shape than you, but good luck with that whole ageism thing. I mean, never mind the guy's views and ideas; let's vote on the basis of age! Rolling Eyes

Where did I say anything other than that Ron Paul was very old? Like him or dislike him, it's the obvious truth. As to his health being better than mine.... well that's pretty silly considering that you don't know and you're comparing me to a upper 70's year old man who regardless of jogging has a high probability of dying soon. Anyways stop distracting from the point of this thread which is call Steelrails an old man.

If being an old man means that you value the written word and the speech over the infantile act, then old man I am.

However, I don't think that makes me an old man. I think that makes me someone above the age of 12.

Sorry, but maybe that's an indicator that you can't really handle freedom or are ill prepared for more freedom. The greater your freedom, the greater your responsibility.

That's not freedom, that's anarchistic-hedonism.

This is like black people arguing for more freedom during the 60s by doing a minstrel show.

There never were these 'good old days' you speak of. I'm not calling you old like the others, but I will compare this sentiment to that of Fox News or even our grandparents who long for the 'good old days'. They didn't exist. Either you're romanticising your childhood, going by what others tell you who are romanticising their childhood, or you're lucky to come from a group that actually did have it better while the majority had it much much worse (ie white Americans who claim the good old days of the 50s. Not so great for women, blacks, gays and other minorities, but whatever). Comically silly protests like this are as old as democracy itself (actually older).

How do you know that the organizers don't engage in all those other protests you suggest using the written word? This is likely an exceptional event to garner attention to their cause. Is it really the end of the world if a bunch of people have a run in their undies to bring attention to a worthwhile cause? The banks are robbing Americans blind, the government has abandonned them, and big business is bankrupting the country. But a bunch of kids running in bras in Utah is a sign of the endtimes?

Maybe Nero did fiddle while Rome burned, but only in America will the citizens stop and listen while they burn alive. Come on Steelie, you're above this. It's another story they're trying to outrage you with so you won't notice their hand in your pocket.

Okay, fair point. I can easily picture a bunch of cockamamie 1850s-1950s style "protests" that involved ridiculous premises and a bunch of alcohol.

I mean dressing up as Natives and throwing tea over a ship...

Still, there is something somewhat "lazy" about this kind of protest. I dunno, just really rubbed me the wrong way.

Speaking of getting rubbed the wrong way, I just thought back to the hand in the pocket line..... Confused
