Hi,
I just started working in Busan. Where is a good English language bookstore (for teaching materials and reading) ?
Thanks |

There is apparently a bookstore just for ESL stuff, I think it's near Seomyeon station, someone else will know for sure though. I've never seen it while wandering around.
As for reading, the 3 best book stores in Busan are Kyobo Books/YB books in Shinsegae and Nampo-dong's Lotte department store (I don't remember which is which.). The one in Nampo Lotte is the better of the 2 for English language stuff.
There's also Young Kwang bookstore at Seomyeon (it's signposted on the signs above your head when you get passed the turnstiles, I think it's exit 9). All 3 bookstores have excellent ESL sections. Young Kwang is particularly excellent for language books (ESL/JSL/CSL/everythingSL books galore). |

Not really, the 3 I mentioned are huge, excellent book stores. |

Does anybody happen to know if there are any used book stores in Busan that sell non-Korean language books? Just curious. |

There's only one. It's called Fully Booked and just opened this summer.
Their Facebook page is here: http://www.facebook.com/fullybooked1 or you can google them and find their info on Koreabridge and in the BusanHaps. |

He's never seen it and he's never been there, but he's an expert on it.
The bookstore you're searching for has many EFL materials, the name is
Kim & Johnson

What? I never said I anything about being an expert on anything. I said I'd heard an ESL book store existed near Seomyeon, but I wasn't sure. Someone else would know better, as you clearly do. Why do I deserve flaming?
Oh wait, this is Dave's. No reason needed. |

There is also one next to shinsaegae at centum city. Its called English plus. Go out exit 4 of centum city. Its on the second floor of the building right on the corner (Outback steakhouse/starbucks is in the same building). Just go up to the second floor and wander around.
Its full of esl material, with a small selection of reading books. |

Kim & Johnson's is a pretty good store. Second floor at the stated address. It is in the Beomnaegol area, just before Beomildong. That is, no one's info is bad. In Seomyeon, as already mentioned, across the street from Lotte, is Yeonggwang. Yongpoong(i think still open), is in Seomyeon, near Judie's Taehwa, as well. The aforementioned English Plus may also have a location in Nampodong(the original in busan?), but I'm not sure as I've not been in that area in ages, and it never seemed very busy 8-10 years ago. There R used book stores around, but you won't find much(except for the Kyungsung Uni one) in the ESL dept, from what I know. Kyobo, I would say, is, technically, in Seomyeon. Right beside VIPs...tell a cabbie, "Seo-myeon, Kyo-bo Moon-go Ga-joo-say-yoh"...that'll get u there. There's also the internet.... |
