My fiance is from Cameroon and living in Korea as a student. My visa expired at the end of June and I came home to the US to have our baby. I am due in February. At this point, we have been separated for 3 months and I don't think I can take another 6 months to a year of this, which is what it takes to process a fiance visa for him to join me here. He also only has 1 semester of school left before finishing his Ph. D so may want to stay through the spring. I may decide just to rejoin him in Korea after the baby is born. I know I can get an E-2 visa, but I am just wondering how the visa process would work for the baby. Would the baby get an accompanying family visa? I know my employer would be my guarantor in Korea. Would I be the baby's guarantor? Would I have to show proof of funds to support us both or would proof of a job be all that would be required? My fiance already has an apartment and I am hoping to have at least $2000 in cash at the time we would leave. Thanks for any help.

IF you are on an E2 and the baby on an F3 then you only need to show proof of the family relationship (birth certificate showing you are the parent).

Good to know. That makes things a little less complicated. Thanks!

Keep in mind that if you work for a hagwon, its a 50/50 chance they might fire you within 2 weeks, a month or 6 months. If its a public school, you have a little more job security. Not sure how you will juggle a baby, school and work. If I were you, I would wait those 6 months for his fiance visa. In the scheme of life...its a very short time to wait.
