Initial impressions? http://www.apple.com/iphone/features/ Here's the features list. Does Korea get any advantages offered by this phone? Does it crush the Galaxy S II LTE? |

No thanks. |

Plus;
no LTE.
No removable battery.
Only a 3.5'' screen.
Apple will need to rush out a competitive iPhone 5 before all the iPhone fans realize how much better the Android phones are.
(cue those iPhone fans to tell me it's all about the OS and the apps.........sorry guys, but IMO Android has already caught up in those departments).

Crush? It barely belongs in the same room as a GS2 LTE! |

Being a motoroi owner, I've been in a state or perpetual fear of consumer remorsenrendering me unable to pull the trigger on a new phone for fear of it being obsolete out of the box.
I thought the iPhone 5 would change my mind, but I can't old on until some unspecified date in 2012.
So reassure me: safe to go out and get a g2 LTE? Future-proof as can be right? |

I was pretty disappointed with the 4S announcement but like many others, my expectations were also really high as well. If Apple was going to push their product announcement/cycle back a few months then they're only contributing to the buzz and anticipation for a new and much greater device. I can see new users or iPhone 3G/3GS users upgrading to this but as an iPhone 4 user it was a very underwhelming announcement, especially with the competition from other phones such as the Galaxy S2 LTE and soon-to-be Nexus Prime. |

This is what the original iPhone 4 should have been Hardware-wise they're still behind a few of the top android models. Software wise..Well it looks like an apple fanboy's wet dream.
So far the only thing that caught my attention was the "personal assistant" software. The way they integrated it into some key features/apps was pretty slick.
Overall I'm not that impressed by it, but the apple fanboys (and girls) will eat this up with no further questions asked. |

I've used Apple products for years (heck I even worked for them once) but even I'm not going to drink the kool-aid on this one. I still think that the 4S will still be a hot item because for every tech/gadget person who cares about specs, there's just as many (if not more) people who want a shiny Apple gadget or just want the no-nonsense of hardware/software integration. |

The iphone 5 will probably be announced in a month or three. I still think it is the one with the angled back.
They will try to snag deperate people holding out , then drop news of the 5. Typical Apple games.
I would still wait. |

The personal assistant thing is a leap ahead of where any other smart phone is right now.
The other thing this phone does is decrease the price of the 4 and the 3GS, meaning Apple sells more phones, which is all Apple cares about. Free 3GS in the US now (carrier is paying for it) and $99 iPhone 4. |

Time will tell if they dropped the ball here - it seems so on the surface - but knowing Apple and it's legions, this will play out fine. Anyhow, lots of disappointed people out there today. I wonder how this will affect (if at all) GalaxyS2 sales...? |

Yeah ^......I don't expect sales of the 4S to be in any way disappointing for Apple. Their customer base for iPhone will ensure it will be another success for them.
One can't help feeling though, that without Jobs at the helm the public might start feeling that the 'magic' has gone a bit.
There might be further mutterings and rumblings in the Appleverse if the iPhone 5 is anything but amazing.
Siri? Does it actually work? I mean how many practical functions will people use it for? I'd wait and see if it works well enough for people to find it useful. I thought I would want to use Google Layer, but I never do. |

apple dropped the ball with this one in a big way. not to say they still won't sell twenty bazillion, but tech-minded people will quickly see how inferior the entire package is compared to some of the new heavy hitting android phones coming out or are already out. there is absolutely nothing compelling about the 4gs unless you like to talk to your phone even when you aren't making a phone call. i wouldn't buy it or even think about buying it over the current and next generation non apple smartphones.
before anyone thinks i'm anti apple i own many iphones and use a mbp as my daily computer. |

The hardware with the 4S (CPU, graphics, battery life, capacity, etc...) is on par if not better than the best Android handsets out there.
I remember before, people hated on the Iphone because it was all looks and nothing impressive under the hood.
Now that Apple put things under the hood, people gripe because the design is the same.
Personally, I think APple's 4S launch is brilliant. All the 3GS users will upgrade to the 4S or the 4 because they will be cheap upgrades. $400 for a 64GB 4S? $200 for the 16GB model. Not a very big investment. In fact, its cheap enough where when the Iphone 5 DOES come out, every Iphone 4/4S user is going to upgrade at the same time.
Now that the Android/Apple OS's are maturing, people are pretty set in which camp they will be in.
I REALLY wanted a Galaxy S2. Problem is, I already spent like $200 over the course of 4 years (I had the 1st gen Touch) on Apple Apps. I don't want to purchase the same apps, AGAIN for the Android platform. I don't care how sweet the handset is.
Likewise, Android users who already spent money on their android apps will be hesitate to switch to iOS, especially when the apps that were free on android end up costing money on Apple.
LTE is moot. 40,000w a month just for 1GB of download. Who on this board is going to PAY that?
So, I'll stick with Iphone. The difference between the Galaxy S2 and the Iphone 4S is little at best. Its like comparing Coke to Pepsi. They are the same, most people don't give a crap whether its Coke or Pepsi thats served at a restaurant, but you got the handful of loyal drinkers on each side who sweat up and down they are different and one is better than the other.
Apple =Coke, Android = Pepsi, RC Cola = Blackberry.
I can't explain it any simpler than that. From now til the end of the world each "camp" will fight over the merits of each, when really, to 95% of consumers, either one would be fine. |

There isn't much difference in terms of specs, but the Apple phone is conspicuously lacking some very basic features which is a big deal for a lot of consumers. |
