I liked how he always tried to envision how normal people could use technology in an easy, user-friendly way. |

All that money and still couldn't buy personal health.
...though, little doubt his efforts will bring him immortality.

Heres to the crazy ones. The misfits. The rebels. The troublemakers. The round pegs in the square holes. The ones who see things differently. Theyre not fond of rules. And they have no respect for the status quo. You can quote them, disagree with them, glorify or vilify them. About the only thing you cant do is ignore them. Because they change things. They push the human race forward. And while some may see them as the crazy ones, we see genius. Because the people who are crazy enough to think they can change the world, are the ones who do. - Apple Inc. |

But reflect for a moment on Steve Jobs. He took resources from no one. He coerced no one. He pandered to no one. He made hundreds of millions of people happy. He ended up being responsible for the creation of tens if not hundreds of thousands of jobs, and inspired countless others to mimic him, or to beat him, or to otherwise complement his work. He asked for no special favors. He was adopted, and certainly was not dealt the best hand in the lottery of life. He blamed no one else for his failures. He shared in his successes. I would argue that this one mans short life was far more important than a centurys worth of politicians who claim to be working in your interest.

I'm really surprised people are speaking so highly of Jobs... though with the intensity of the Apple fanbase, I guess I shouldn't be. |

People should also be aware of the very real controversy surrounding Jobs, and in particular Apple's use of labor in China and Africa (especially child labor).
In fact, Apple's factory in China had to put up safety nets around its factory because too many workers were killing themselves. And some of the stuff that has gone on in Africa would make you wince...
You've heard of "Blood Diamonds"... you should now think of "Blood iPhones"...
Jobs was brilliant in a way, but I would not call him a Saint.
There appears to be a fairly large disconnect between Apple's public image as this socially hip avante guard company and its actual corporate practices. |

I wish I could like your comment GwangjuParants, that's great sympathy to labors in China.
But I think iPhone being bloody is not Apple or Steve's Fault.
I used to blame the greedy Americans brought pollution to China and treated Chinese labors poorly.
Then I realized businessmen like Steve Jobs, they couldn't control who they hired to make the products. He was just doing his business, if there was a factory promise to make an iphone for him with $50 each, he wouldn't go for the offer of $51.
Apple factories brought tens of thousand of jobs to China. I would rather believe that's a huge contribution to the society.
There should have been a greater role of the Chinese government in regulating and protecting its labors, but that is off the topic. |

These days, the "truthiness" of how people feel about things is most important. Too bad he never ran for office, I'd have loved to have seen Buddhism and LSD use normalized through hero worship. |

I definitely admire his brilliance. I have paid tribute to him on my facebook page, but one facebook friend brought up the fact that Chinese workers at an Apple plant in China committed suicide. I don't know if I can blame Jobs for that. I don't know anything about it. He seems like he tried to lead a good, moral life to some extent. I am not a saint to judge, I don't know. I like the man. I mourned his passing. |
