If its mandatory then they should add it to the original price. Simple as that. Otherwise they are trying to scam you. Everyone agrees with that I think. Apart from WAD who doesnt mind being scammed if its only a little bit of money. I have some awesome magic beans by the way.

A budget WAD, are you a billionaire? Are you so rich and privileged money is no concern to you? Is that why you fly budget airlines, because you do not care about the price? LOL.

WAD you are clearly a little boy with no idea about living within your means.

This is really so simple. You have a choice between about 4 or 5 carriers to the Philippines. And Cebu Pacific tends to be 30%-50% of the price of the other airlines. How they slice up the fares is of no consequence to me. What matters to me, at the end of the day, is what comes out of my pocket in total. All other things being equal, I'll choose the lowest fare!

Don't like the seat selection tariff...then fly another airline...period!

I'm seriously confused with your logical thinking.

If Cebu Pacific want to charge extra for seat selection. Great. One of the benefits of budget airlines is that you only pay for what you use. So if you are not a drinker then you dont have to cover others beer consumption. However, if they make that option mandatory, then it should be part of the advertised ticket price.

It would be illegal in our own countries and as consumers that is what we expect of an international business.

It's pretty easy to avoid the seat selection fee, so I don't really see the issue here. This is common among low-cost carriers, and while deselecting insurance/seats etc is a nuisance, it's a very minor one.

How? I can't get to the payment page without clicking on the "Agree with the terms" on the seat selection page.

It is NOT mandatory.

They, by default, assign you pre-selected seats, but when you get to the seat selection page, you can just un-select the seats and continue to the checkout..

It's a bit of a pain in the ass to unselect each seat for each person for each leg of trip, but I assume they made it so for lazy people to just pay the extra and not make any effort to de-select.

To opt out of pre-selected seats or choose your own seat, click on the little box with the selected seat number, then click on the corresponding seat on the airplane seating plan. It will then ask you if you want to remove the seat, click confirm. You have to repeat this for every seat on every leg, but when your done, you click 'agree to terms' (you have no selected seats now, so you have agreed, but you dont have to pay extra b/c you didnt select any seats) and pay for your ticket and you no longer have pre-paid/pre-selected seats.

Crazy seat sale started two days ago ---- Jan - March travel, 150 000w return for Incheon to Cebu...not sure how many available seats left or how much longer the sale lasts...

Thank you SO MUCH for your tip. It used to be that you did not have to click the "agree to terms" box but I guess the airline is getting tricky to pry more cash out of its customers.

And as for discount flights to Cebu, FORGET IT. The ones to and from Cebu sell out much faster than those to and from Manila. I'm hoping direct service starts to a third Philippine city like Iloilo or Kalibo or something.
