We're considering on a trial basis on having Dave's ESL awards every six months or once a year. The rewards will be not be something scientific. A particular moderator will receive names via PM and if he gets so many he will have to keep emptying his inbox. The moderator would ask for names based on a certain category. You would choose your 5. You can nominate someone more than once. You don't have to agree with the results. We will start this some time soon to see if users are interested.
1)The nicest poster
2)The most helpful poster
3)The funniest poster
4)The poster who is the best at Korean
5)The most respectful poster
6)The best at suggesting places to go, places to eat at..... |

Dude...This is a great idea but we need at least a few awards that don�t smack of Mr Roger�s world.
How about an award for the angry apologist? He keeps it up year after year and exhibits a level of stamina rarely seen outside the marathon circuit.
The Drinker. He posts long-winded screeds about nothing and is completely right about everything. I humbly nominate myself for this one.
The 백한 dude. We need this guy. He has been in the country for years, and remembers he is white because of his reflection in parked cars. This annoys him. |

| I vote for myself in all categories, as well as a few that aren't listed, such as "Grand Emperor and President-for-Life" category, and the coveted "Poster with the most guts" award. |

I don't want to call him angry, cause I think he is pretty chill but Steal Rails will argue an apologist point into the damn ground. He will be still posting 8 pages after I stopped caring. Credit were credit is due. |

Personally, a bad idea~
Turning an open friendly forum into something akin to a competition. There
may be a winner, but there's also gonna be a loser and with that comes
conflict and hard feelings.
Frankly, I don't see the point. I'm sure most posters already know who are
top notch posters and don't need a banner by their name. Not only that but
you may be making that poster(s) a target of flaming and unwanted attention.
But if some kind of title belt is up for grabs or can add a little shine to my resume, then I'll happily submit my name! Perhaps create a sock or two!ha~

How about coolest avatar (not in violation of the TOS)? Would that be an interesting category. What about a category for someone not a Dave's user- most informative foreigner in Korea about the latest happening in Korea and analysis, a male and female blogger? It could be a mix of people on Dave's and non-Dave's people. I know some want negative categories like the ones most likely to go postal, the biggest apologist, but that's asking for trouble. How about the new ideas I mentioned above.
The other ones were funny, but we can't include those:) |

I think if I combine that with another poster's suggestion, one can add the King and Queen of Dave's to have at least one humorous category, and users don't need to justify their votes when they PM them. They just put the names on the lists. We tally the votes. They have to be current users, and what about about non-Dave's users - your favorite male and female bloggers regarding everything related to Korea. It can't be a site focused on making money to simply advertise a friend's business. You'd give a name, and that's it. |
