Hello, finally got all my documents ready after starting the insanity back in June. Since I didn't know when my apostille would get back I'm just now seriously looking at jobs in the ASAP department. Any tips, warnings other pieces of advice from people that did something similar? Thanks in advance, excited to get over there ASAP.

Have a good resume picture.

That's all that counts.

I'm in the same boat as you.

What's considered a "good" picture? Maybe my picture isn't good =[

My best advice is to contact as many recruiters and postings that fit your criteria as possible. I got my docs back two weeks ago, and spent every day on the postings board, emailing off my resume and photos. You can get a nice head shot done somewhere cheap, but remember - if a school doesn't hire you solely because of the way you look, you're probably better off not working for them. There are plenty of jobs available, but keep at it every day. I spent my time working late at night when people are at work in Korea, so that you can reply quickly and set up interviews. Set up a nice introductory email that lists your qualifications to teach (or, if you have none, why you want to), and treat getting a job like it is your job. If you have all your docs ready and present yourself professionally, you'll get something decent fairly soon (and remember - you probably won't get the best jobs out there as a first year hire, since the market is tough, so be willing to compromise a bit on certain things. Just make sure to get as much info as you can before signing and don't just take anything.) Good luck!

p.s. I just signed a contract yesterday, so it took me a little less than two weeks to land a job. I have a Master's in Teaching and am 35/male, so your own experience may vary. Overall, I had over 30 different recruiters/positions that I applied to, and just a handful of interviews, but I was also selective in what ages I would teach and where I wanted to go (and I eventually got what I wanted, for the most part). Also, post your resume on the Jobs Wanted board here and you should get some decent contacts.

wow awesome. Congrats!! It's been two weeks of my job search (doing EXACTLY what u did.. emailed like 30 recruiters) but turned down two because they were both 2-10. Got nothing else so far. Guess I just need to be patient =/ or compromise to 2-10.

Yeah definitely it is the photo that gets you noticed and if you can do any volunteer teaching in the mean time that gets you hired really quickly. As for what I guess is a good resume picture (or at least what worked with mine) is that you look well groomed, mine isn't the most professional picture, but all of my hair is nice (and straight) and I'm wearing makeup....in fact I was wearing a cut away t-shirt in that picture (you can see the top) so as long as your face is good you should be fine.
