On Sunday morning, I awoke extremely hungover and cranky to find that my cable provider had done away with Star World (channel 33) in favour of some Korean station showing old soapies and infomercials. I never recieved any notice of this happening, although if I did I doubt it would have registered as I don't read Korean. Does anyone know why this happened and if so, who can I switch to in order to be able to watch SVU again?

hey, that happened to me too, ......last year! i live in daejeon, so it may have only happened here. my korean teachers rang up the company to see whats up, apperently they sold the station to china, and that was that. no more star owrld for daejeon. and, i might add, just two weeks ago, we lost star sports! not impressed in the slightest. now i know they sold this band to china as it was all in chinese anyway. but hows a boy to watch the rugby?? anyway, hooking up with "super" cable soon, with five sports channels, and all the trimmings. costs around 20 thou a month, and apperntly free instalation. good luck bro, laterz

I lost Star World last year and it was the best thing to ever happen to my channel universe.

It's full of sitcoms and dramas that are either cheesy, silly or overbearing: The worst of the best.

The loss was no biggie.

I've never seen a glimpse of star sports.

Is it a regional thing - what channels you get I mean?

Common as mud. In over 3 years, I have woken up on numerous occassions to find channels changed to other channels, disappeared for no apparent reasons. It depends on how much time they buy and whether the cable companies can negotiate reasonable rates with the providers. It's a right royal pain. It will probably turn up again in a month or 2. Smile

Aside from ESPN (which is on the star network), Star sports is perhaps the biggest sports channel in the world, servicing from Korea, thru China, Southeast Asia, India and the Gulf. Problem with my Star Sports is you get the Chinese version, not the cool Hong Kong one which shows lots more Premier League footie and you don't have to put up with watching super 12 rugby in Mandarin.

Cheers

I know, it's a ****ing travesty. I'm never going to know who wins American Idol now (money's on Fantastic Fantasia incidentally). Instead I'm going to get 90's shrieking adjosshi dramas I have no interest in seeing.

Also I'm not sure I can survive without Don Johnson's Nash Bridges

I have this really cool old drama channel on 44. It seems to me the actors are the same on every drama(or maybe they didn't have as many).

Now i think about I don't think it is so cool.
