I'm just letting others know about this, those who may not have heard about it. Sat/Sun. Seoul. Sookmyeong Woman's University. http://www.kotesol.org/IC2011Event
The election happens at the conference. I'm urging everyone get out and vote for Julien McNulty. Just takes a moment at the main table in the lobby. If you are at the conference, you're elgible to vote.
Julien is the only one really being progressive and looking at new ways to open up the organization and approach. See all the candidates here. - http://koreabridge.net/kotesol

Why does he (Julien McNulty) want to limit President's term to 1 year? If he were good and made changes, not only would I want him to continue (which I know could be voiced by simply voting again) but I wouldn't see the positive effects until after a year of it being implemented.
If he is claiming quick changes as opposed to gradual ones over the course of 2-3 years, then that is too erratic in my opinion. School years are set based on a yearly hiring period and applications are submitted well before the year.
I don't see how this aspect is good for his campaign. |

I don't know who was in charge at the time, and I can't remember the exact month this happened (sometime in the past year) but an individual absolutely berated a Korean friend of mine to the point that I lost a lot of interest in the organization.
To put it bluntly, this individual ripped on my Korean friend's English ability and was excessively rude.
I hope some good officers are elected this year. I know a few good ones who would be excellent. |

The big draw this year is krashen. Perhaps therefore the attendance will be higher than the 1,500 who showed up last year! I'd be going if I had the time, but after seeing the videos of the candidates I wouldn't be voting. If your in Seoul and you're interested in ELT then it will be well worth the entrance fee. |

I agree with you here. My own endorsement is based on his more overall progressiveness but I think a 2 year term for the President should be instituted....

The danger of a two-year term is when the elected individual is totally incompetent. Two years can be an eternity when you're stuck with a black cloud that overstays its welcome. One year is sufficient. Need more time to implement projects, then run again. |

Then there should be ways to impeach. However, to tell someone they only have 1 year to make significant changes is unrealistic. |
