Facebook is little help in locating workers at Avalon locations around the country, so I thought I'd start here.

Please leave a comment here or PM me if you work for a CORPORATE Avalon location. Franchises and LangCons don't really need to respond, but would be nice.

We need to talk.

Thank you.

I was just offered a position at one, which I'm leaning towards taking. I'm not sure if it is Franchise or Corporate though? Jangan Campus in Suwon?

I believe you are corporate. Take a good, long look at your contract. I'm going to go post all over these boards to hit 25 posts and then I'll PM you.

If you just post a load of shit to get pm status, your account will prolly get banned. FYI.

You starting a union or something? If so, my advice would be to just quit and work for a proper school.

Having a bit more information about what the problem is would be a good start. What's up?

Some of us are leaning in to take the job offers so is it possible to let us know what the problem or benefit is?

For whatever its worth I'm currently at Avalon and enjoying myself. Haven't had any problems and most of the teachers who I'm working with have re-signed....now that could just because we have a relatively good group in a good part of the country. This is my first SK teaching job and I'm considering myself pretty lucky at this point. I haven't had a problem with Avalon. Of course Avalon is a big company so I'm sure there are a few bad ones.

Hey, can somebody PM me about what this whole deal is? I just signed a contract and am getting ready to send out my paperwork, so if anyone can explain what's going on I would be very appreciative. Thanks!

They are reportedly going to a 6 day mandatory work week as of spring. Good luck, personally I would never work for Avalon again.

Did Kim Jong Il take over the company? Thought he was in North Korea.

CEO: "Let's make everyone work six days a week. After all, there are seven days in a week!"

VP: "Yes. And while we're at it let's make it mandatory to work from 9 am to 10 pm! After all, there are 24 hours in a day. That's only 11! Less than half!"

CEO: "Good idea! All the employees will fear us because we are laying down the law! This will create a good environment for our teachers teaching young learners! I am an idiot!"

VP: "Me, too! I am an idot and a moron! Let's make everyone tired!"

CEO: "Yes! Tired workers are good workers!!! The longer people work, the more successful everyone is!!!! No raises!!!! Success!!!!"

VP: "Yes. I am dumb!"

Even if it doesn't say it in your contract?

If it is not in your contract they can try and make you sign a change of contract later on...but this is just for corporate right now. I wouldn't be surprised if a lot of other hogwans try this too due to the fact korean kids won't be going to school anymore on saturdays- and it is an extra day to study. They told us we would be doing this, with no extra money and no other day off...so i am planning on not resigning when my contract is up- in fact all 11 foreign teachers at my school aren't.

In korea, kids go to public school every other saturday...and to hogwans too. Some of my students go to various hogwans 7 days a week. Poor kids. Education is a massive business here.
