|
I am going to be seeing my friends back home pretty soon and some of them have gotten married. I would like to get them a traditional Korean something or other as a wedding present.
If you have some suggestions, could you please tell me where to get it.
Thank you in advance! |

I really like the tea sets (ceramic pot and cups). They're a bit exotic for a Western household, and quite affordable, while also being useful (if they're tea drinkers). If a teapot would have little utility to them, Korean pottery is pretty cool and again, unique looking. There are plenty of vases or bowls that would fit well as decorative pieces in a house with modern decor. Insadong would be the easiest place to go for ceramics, and they're pretty reasonably priced (with the possibility of spending a bit more). |

Go to Namdaemun and look for the wedding ducks. They'll go for 5,000 for a small pair to 50,000-75,000 for a good pair in a nice gift box.
Insadong will have the same merchandise, but be priced towards tourists. Namdaemun is priced wholesale. Plus the same building that has the wedding ducks, also will have a large selection of lacquered boxes, trays, small tables, etc. |

Traditional Korean wedding gift = cold, hard cash.
I'll never forget the look on my mother-in-law's face when she saw all the actual presents that my wife and I received from my American friends. Her face said, "Show me the money!" |
