Hello,
I am an F4 visa holder from the United States looking to register as a test prep instructor (in English, but not exactly teaching English language). Do I need to have an FBI criminal background check from the states? What documents do I need?
I have been teaching college entrance exam courses for the last three years and never once had a CBC done. I usually just gave my academies my diploma, and they gave it back after a few days. I heard that they recently changed the law so that even F4 visa holders have to get a CBC if registering for a new hagwon. Is this true? Doesn't seem to make sense considering I've been teaching for years and want to move to another place now.
I read up on plenty of E-2 stuff, but I'm a gyopo on an F4 visa and can't find any specifics on it. Thanks! |

i believe the law did change but they are still pretty lenient with F4s. a few gyopos re-signed with at my hagwon and they were not required to get a CRC - whereas for E2s, i heard have to get their CRC before they re-sign.

For immigration = NO.
For the POE, under the legislation passed last summer, = yes.
Will they ask for it = Ghod only knows.
Are they supposed to = yes, for all hagwan or PS teachers (not just English teachers).

| I'm an F-4 and did not need to show it to my hagwon even once. But that's my hagwon, and others places may ask. |
