| This means the Bible is correct and there is no such thing as racism, just hatred for others ― and that is sin. Korea is not racist and racism is not serious in this country; sin is, and that is not limited to the Korean people, for the westerner is as guilty as those they falsely accuse. |
jesus christ. opinions like this make me angrier than racist people do. racist people are just ignorant. they're operating on an automatic level with no thought. this guy has some thought going on... retarded thought. and it would be impossible to change his mind. |
Race based nationalism coupled with old testament evangelical bible beliefs?
Who wouldn't want such a person at their dinner party! |

I had something similar happen to me at a PC bang in my first year here. The owner said that foreigners put viruses on all the computers so he wouldn't let me in.
I was a little miffed, but seeing as there is no dearth of PC bangs in Korea I took a few steps down the street and went to another one. Never happened to me at a a sauna though. |

There's a PC bang in my city with a sign next to the front door saying "No Chinese" in Korean and in English. |

For full effectiveness I think he's missing a language.... but then racists aren't usually mensa members. |

That was my initial thought as well. I heard that the owner has never allowed any foreigners, Chinese or not, in since opening. |

So a single sauna employee is representative of the entire country? (disregarding the fact that many foreigners have had no problems with saunas at all)
What happened to the woman was a clear case of discrimination and wrong.
But making statements as in the quote above the one above is just as ignorant. |

Stating the obvious there, really. When something like this is printed in a national newspaper read by non-Koreans, of course it's going to reflect badly on them as a whole. |

So if something like this had happened in America or Canada and was printed in a national newspaper...it would reflect badly on Americans or Canadians as a whole?
Come now, you know that's rubbish. Most people would think that it's an example of just one bigoted person. And that would hold true whether it was America, Canada or South Korea. |

Whenever a high school shooting happens or something like that, people do have knee-jerk reactions and instantly think 'America is a crazy country'. That's how the media works, isn't it?
Like I said, this article makes Korea seem like backward country. If people outside of Korea read this, what do you honestly think they will say?
It doesn't reflect well on Korea at all, I'm afraid. |

Whilst I get what you're getting at, it's perhaps not just the employee.
| Quote: |
| He also said Koreans customers dont like using the facility with foreigners because in the town there are many foreign women working at bars and there were rumors that some have AIDS |
Of course, the employee could be talking out of his behind or maybe those comments are just reflective of his own prejudices, but the article doesn't reflect well on Korean patrons of that establishment or Koreans in that community. |

I've yet to see a single media article that blames the whole of America for a school shooting.
And that woman it happened to, she is also Korean. It doesn't reflect well on her now?
Yes some people might feel that way. But cooler heads eventually prevail and realize that one person doesn't not reflect the country
Besides which how many people back home are going to really care? To them it's just another news story which will be forgotten by the next week.
Unless you have some connection to South Korea...it's just the same as similar stories happening in India, China, or any other country.
So no need to be afraid. Simply refrain from posting offensive commentary which is what the TOS asks you to do is all. |

Indeed, one racist does not a whole country of racists make.
Attidues like this are non conducive to a mature and reasoned discussion. |

| I can't find the article or remember the specifics, but I do remember a couple of years back when the Korean Government announced that AIDS couldn't be transmitted through kissing, or something to that effect. It was the kind of knowledge that most people in the UK learned in the 1980s, and really showed an embarrassing ignorance of the issue in Korea. |

| I never said Korea is a backward country. I said this article does no favours for them because, to a certain extent it is representative of Korean society. The fact that these beliefs exist and are clearly shared by more than one lone racist is very embarrassing. |

Maybe. But all we know for sure is that that particular employee was way out of line. |
