|
|
Got married last month applied for new (F2?) visa today. Or is it now F6 a little confused after reading the forums.
Anyway, was told it would take 4-6 weeks to process. Was also asked to show a bank balance of 30 million won.
Are these normal requirements?
I thought the whole process was pretty straight forward.
So anyone else had the same/different experience?

It's at the discretion of the immigration official as to whether they ask for proof of mean or not. Generally the 30 million can include all assets including deposit on your house. It also doesn't need to be "your money". If a relative can loan you the money so that it appears in your bank book for the application process, you can return it after showing it to immigration.
Hope this helps. Congratulations by the way...

Also an employment contract can count towards the 30 million with some immigration officers, both you and your partners. |

Really I had heard from some F2's that you only need to be married to a Korean. The 30 million won deal was to apply for an F5. But each immigration officer is their own legal entity, me thinks. |

I had to show proof of earnings, and prove that I had money in the bank when applying for my F-2. They didn't state an exact amount, but I have heard the 30 mil figure being spoken about by others. I had about 20mil in the bank, plus a 10 mil housing deposit, and they asked no further questions about my finances. I got my visa within 2 or 3 weeks. |

Some people are asked to show 30m for the F2, and some aren't. That, is one of the major problems with Immigration in my humble opinion. There's a standard set of rules, but not a standard way to enforce them.
We used to have a "rule of thumb" in the Army. "You can add to a regulation, but can't take away from it". I think immi here follows that same "rule of thumb". |

It took a few weeks to get my F2 back when I filed. I don't think you have anything to worry about as long as you got the proof of marriage thing sorted out.
Is that still a major problem? I got married in the U.S so thankfully, I never had to deal with that nonsense. |

Received F2 today no bank account info given to immigration. Only issued for one year though.
Anyway thanks for the congratulations and advice. |
