Hello,

I cancelled my employment with my employer (teaching) and will be leaving Korea to cancel my E2 via dropping off my arc card at immigration on the way out. My question is how quickly can I return on a tourist Visa? Im thinking of going to Japan for a weekend and coming back to look for a new job.

I never got a LOR from employer but I gave them time to find a replacement. They will be cancelling the Visa monday and I plan to leave next saturday for a weekend. Thanks in advance!

You'll need all new documents. Japan is not cheap. You think you will get it all done on a 90 day tourist visa?

Even if you are leaving, still try to get a letter of release. Also are you leaving with problems or grudge. Make sure when you leave you owe nothing! Well nothing that you really owe like plane ticket, bills, etc.

A piece of advice - once you leave any goodwill you have with the school is moot. Nice of you to stay till they found a replacement. They might be saying - your a nice guy, but once you go - that nice guy becomes thief and scoundrel.

I think you will be fine on going and coming back on a tourist visa. Just be aware of restrictions for you country. Not everybody get 90 days or 6 months or even a visa free entry. Sometimes you have to extend after a month.

Also you will also have problems with things like handphones and bank accounts too. You have no more ARC card.

If you are coming back for another job. You will need new paperwork. Yes things have changed a bit and maybe you can avoid getting you degree verified and so on. Remember, what works for one does not always work for everyone. So start getting your docs ready. If you are lucky you can get a new job with no hassles.

You can leave and come back on the same day. If you get a LOR you won't need to leave the country.
