I have a sore on my leg, and I am looking for a specific medicine for it that I have always used in the past and which works well for me. It is called Salve, which in the U.S. comes in a round tin, and is very thick, sticky, and mentholated. Here are some links to show you exactly what I am talking about:

The first link shows the exact kind I have always used.
The problem is that whenever I go to a pharmacy and ask for "salve" (by using my dictionary to show the Korean translation), they don't realize I'm looking for that specific kind of salve and interpret it more generally, so they've given me various ointments and such. The closest I could come was a vaseline-type product, but it is not the same.
Are any of you out there familiar with exactly what I am talking about? If so, can you tell me what to say to the pharmacist and how to describe it so I can get what I am looking for? I know they have it here, as I got it a couple years ago in Korea (I guess when I asked for "salve" I got lucky then, but not now). I can't speak Korean at all and cannot explain what it is that I need. Thanks! |
