Creating the world's largest harem was living according to his convictions?

It's one of my convictions

I think a thread needs to be started: "On people who care about people who wear Che shirts"

At least go after people wearing Che shirts for being cliched...I have no problem if they are ignorant about Che and who he was...People wear football jerseys of jerks and morons too

One Che thread wasn't enough? Furthermore people who make youtube videos like that and stop people in the street to harass them are far more annoying than some one wearing a tee-shirt.

I think confronting ignorance is fantastic. I saw a hippy couple dress their kids in Che product once in San Francisco. That was reprehensible.

Wow, you're sounding pretty ugly for someone from the 'land of the free.' What's it to you what people do?

I agree, what is so offensive about a Che t-shirt? I don't like Che, but then there's lots of things I don't like.

Wearing the shirt is harmless. Kind of speaks of youth, being naive, thinking that you would be part of saving the world.

Amusing how some on Dave's got upset , when their socialist .heros are shown to be money grubbing thugs.

Child sex in Cuba?? Been mentioned in U.N reports and is pretty common knowledge. Italians cause prostitution in Cuba????? WTF Right Italians the / fleeing the raging cold of the Medditeranean.

Rainism; you are saying that every Cuban woman is a prostitute?????? The poiceforce runs the prosttution in cuba. Fidels gets a chunk of the money. y
young girls make the most money. Its just good marxisst Leninism , everyone does his or her part for the state.

when the island first opened up to any tourism at all, in the mid 90's, yes, I'd say 90% of ALL Cuban women were ready, willing and available.

You should remember the Cuban minds aren't polluted with religious nonsense, and amongst themselves they screw like rabbits. If screwing a tourist meant some cash or a nice dress, or even a night out on the town that they could never afford themselves on their Cuban peso salaries, they paid "that price" ever so willingly.

and your're wrong about police running any such thing. unless you're thinking about the US sponsored dictator years, pre Castro, when the island was on the biggest brothels around.

now when you say "common knowledge" that would be among WHOM? (and what UN reports? unless you're talking about American State Dept reports which are a sick stupid joke and completely politically motivated)

I have my own knowledge, I lived there " a lo cubano" (among locals, away from tourists) for 5 months.

Rainism, you lived in Cuba for 5 months?

Did you see any great hardship? Most people seemed to have enough to eat? Good education for the kids? Easy access to college level education? Cheap or even free medical care?

just curious.

I have a Mao t-shirt. Not sure where it came from. Can't read it. Might get someone to translate. It shows him looking beatific and wise with a heavenly glow around him, so you know it speaks the truth.

I dont know rainism. 247,000 items on google that discuss child prostitution in Cuba. Not all by the state department.

"They screw like rabbits' jeez! Anyway you must have had a good time. So you are saying that life is miserable and the people so poor they will do anything for a piece of clothing or a meal. Interesting research. Where did you live in Cuba?
Did you live in a hotel or rent a house or apartment.

life in Cuba is often described a "la lucha" (the fight)
it's basically a struggle for survival. Yes, people have 'enough' to eat, but barely, (many survive off the govt "libreta", which offers some necessities like rice, sugar.. etc).

Education, generally speaking, is actually pretty good, although these days it's fallen way behind as technology has made its way into "Western" classrooms.

Medical care is very good on the family doctor, prevention level. but woe unto you if you need to go to a local hospital and have surgery. The doctors are skilled enough, but there's a widespread shortage of medicines and I remember a Cuban hospital room where parts of one bed were made from corrugated pipes off a motorcycle.

Basically, life in Cuba is tons better than say life of the truly poor in most other places in Latin America where they live with no subsidies or anything in tin huts manmade on hilltops off the major cities.

but that's not really saying much.

Life in Cuba also highly depends on whether you have family stateside. If you do, you're on the lucky ones, as they constantly send things and money back to Cuba (that's about 33% of the population).

there isn't much for an average cuban to do. The lack of "entertainment" options especially if you don't have any money (as most don't) is overwhelming. Combine that with lack of religious brainwashing, and a very healthy tropical Caribbean libido, what do people mostly do?
(screw like rabbits)

better said people would do a LOT merely to get away from their dreary everyday existence. Back in those days... taking a Cuban woman out on the town to places that only took hard currency, to a club, a half decent restauranta, etc, basically meant you were being screwed like a rabbit at the end of the date Smile These were things she could never do on her own or with another average cuban guy. Those were the days in the aftermath of the end of Soviet subsidies and the Cuban "Special Period" (google it)

things are a bit different now.

I rented an appt "a la izquierda" (illegally) in La Habana in a barrio with very few foreigners. Staying at a hotel would've meant limiting my "real experience" and directly subsidizing the govt.

and I repeat those "child prostitution" allegations are full of crap. Cuba was alleged by the Bush Admin to be a sponsor of "terrorism" too. Prostitution in Cuba is actually now far LESS widespread than in say US ally Colombia, yet where do you read BS US "reports' (who nobody cares about outside of the US) about human trafficking in Colombia?)

one thing you should know though is that the age of consent in Cuba is such that a 16 year old isn't considered a "child". Anyone under 16, I'd easily bet that the incidence of such in Miami is much higher than in Cuba.

What kind of statement is a wolf tee-shirt? "Although I am not an alpha male, I have a picture of one on my shirt"? Very strange indeed. If I was to overcompensate for something, I don't know if a tee-shirt would be the way to go.
