Now that cool weather is finally here I'd love it if Wendy's would return to Seoul. Ahhh, the memories of the double cheeseburgers and chili I used to get at the COEX Wendys.......................

Would love to see Kenny Rogers Roasters return, too.

And the chain restaurant that was in front of Sejong University (across from Childrens Grand Park). Can't remember the name of it...................

Wendy's used to be in Korea but withdrew after the 1997 Asian financial crisis. Truth be told, the burgers at Wendy's Korea were NOWHERE NEAR as good as the ones in the U.S.

denny's is only decent, but they are a step up over similar offerings here. plus they are in japan, so it wouldn't be a stretch to see them come over.

also, pizza pizza. there are other random and much smaller canadian chains here (new york fires, pita pit) so it's not a stretch.

Tim Hortons opened its only foreign branch in the United Arab Emirates. I like Tim Hortons. I like Wendy's more than McDonald's, but it's not as popular internationally as Burger King and McDonald's. I am not sure why. Quiznos is around. I would like to see Taco Bueno, a Texas chain, over here. It's better than Taco Bell. I also like the California-based In and Out burger place. Five Guys isn't bad, either.

I don't really know how Tim Horton's would fare over here to be honest. In my 2+ years here, I don't think I have ever seen a Korean order drip coffee and that's all Tim Horton's has. They don't even have espresso machines. That and they are not really a sit down place, which is the draw to most cafes here. It's more of a get a really quick and cheap coffee on the go kind of thing. The only way I could see them doing well is if they were marketed more as a sandwich/lunch kind of shop rather than a coffee shop.

I would murder for Five Guys or Harvey's though. Actually I think Harvey's would do alright here. They are different enough from other burger places and cheap enough that they could draw a good number of people.

Denny's was here like 15 years ago, they had a location in the Savoy Hotel in Myeong-dong and in Gangmam, it was funny as it appeared to be upscale they even served beer, they didnt last much past 98 though

I'd love to see Chuys or the County Line BBQ here but given how regional they are it would never fly here

Considering that Tim Hortons' stores in the US are struggling, it would be an outright failure in Korea. Just goes to show that there really is a cultural differences between Canada and the US. And can make a huge difference in business success in the other's country.

Anyways I'd love to see Wendy's, but I don't think they would even put a dent into Lotteria's Korean market-share.

There was also one in Co-Ex, where Jackie Chan's is (or was--I haven't been there in a while). I remember going there for breakfast a few times in 96 or so--preIMF days. There was an American guy there who was overseeing "quality control". It seemed pretty "perfect" by American Denny's standards, as I recall.
