Hello , I recently took a position in England as Chief Surgeon at the Best Hospital in London where nobody speaks English. So in light of this predicament I am seeking an American to teach my little darling child and loving wife how to navigate the Underground, carry out some shopping activities etc. I would be willing to richly reward a fluent American speaker( especially if you are from Kansas) for this job. You would live in a plush penthouse accomodation with lovely views of the Thames. The weekly remuneration for this position is 999.50. If you wish to travel, a chauffered Aston Martin will be at your beck and call. I know it will be an awful nuisance to uproot from the USA so I am also offering a settlement allowance of 5000. Please send all your personal information and credit card numbers to my personal black-hole where I will decide on the suitable applicant.

Yours sincerely,
Dr Ivan Torobyou.

Wait, wait -- there's something up with that guy's name -- I'll get it -- THERE!

If you rearrange the letters in his name, it spells "DRAIN VOYOUR BOT."

I think this is a sentient email system, trying to overcome our predilection for spying on our neighbors (hence, the "drain" portion of its appellation!)

Er...wait. What?

Zoopla is a fantastic site.

It appears that the house does exist. It appears that it's not been sold since 2008, which makes the offer look fishy.

I would always presume this is spam anyway. I would never expect anything else, but googling the address is always a start.

I want the kids to improve in their written and conversation English before they can go back to a regular school and I need my wife to be proficient so that she will be able to get a good Job here in England as an accountant.

I will shoulder the cost of your round trip flight fare to England at the Beginning of the contract and at the end back to your country.

anyone with money enough to pay you that salary with living arrangements like the one suggested would never use that kind of language.

"I will shoulder the cost"?

his wife "needs" a good job as an accountant?!

come on, red flags all over the place.

Just to weigh in on the "It's a scam" messages, I've received this same e-mail and similar on numerous occasions. How anybody falls for this is beyond me. but they do.

Not legit. End of story.

Sorry if I'm repeating here - haven't read through the thread - I might have even posted already, a few months ago.

It's a scam - ignore it. I've had loads of these emails - don't even open 'em - they are like those things telling you that some guy has left you millions in Nigeria. Total waste of time replying.

Laughing That's what I thought. I told a friend, who never worked in the ESL field, and his first question was, "Where in England?" Not, "Why is he emailing an American for a job in England?"

What I can't get over is how people can be so dumb. Surely if it were real this guy could find someone who can teach English in ENGLAND! Hello?!

I'm surprised he doesn't include a picture of his super hot wife that wants to study 1:1 and live with you in her house as an added bonus to sell the scam.

It's too late. I've already accepted the job. I start end of November.

It an obvious scam but I'm still wondering how it works. I used to have money orders pinned to my wall from other scammers when I was in the US. Usually it's the "Here's a check for you. I overpaid so please send me the item and the cash". I'm not sure the angle on this.

This one is weird because the English is good. It's not so Nigerian sounding. There's still some stupid mistakes. He asked for my diploma and nothing else. My http://thunderwoodcollege.com Ph.D. is enough.

IF its too good to be true than it usually is.

This reminds me of Nigerians offering a gold stash worth millions if you just send them 10K in cash.
