Fine motor coordination in the hands. Steadier nerves. I can't recall where I read it, but men's nerves are more "tingly" because of the need for fast-twitch action. Whereas women's are more steady and precise.

what about men who do fine detailed work like surgeons, artists, calligraphists, tattooists, yet i'm sure those dudes probably have worse handwriting than their female counterparts.

Ya? It's very true.

As for girls and boys, most boys don't give a spit.

The women in these industries tend to be better than men. The best tattooists are female as they also have a lighter touch. I have had many a male tattooist tell me that.
Now, to pre-empt your next question "why aren't there as many females in these industries?"
Well that's a question that will lead to a multitude of sociological theories and is a Pandora's box I can't be bothered opening right at this point in time.

Women care more about appearance than men in general and handwriting is one aspect of it. There's your answer.

Because they don't. It's a generalization.

you're saying that women are better than men in the tattoo world? in what regard? purely on a technical level? because from a creative standpoint, i'd say that's debatable.

That would be anecdotal. You also haven't supported your initial claim that girls have better handwriting than boys. Which may be true, it would help your case if you supported it with evidence before trying to knock others whose claims are similarly posted unsupported. In other words people in glass houses shouldn't throw stones, especially if they throw like a girl.

Proof why generalizations can lead to faulty conclusions: I'M NOT A TEACHER!

If you do a cross-country comparison of countries/ languages that stress handwriting as a sign of social status (Hindi, Arabic, Chinese, Tagalog, Mongolian and several other languages/ countries--which make up a large portion of the female and male writers around the world--though they may not come from the most developed places), then you'd find that in actuality males are often better (trained) than females in the art of handwriting.

If you mean in the US and Korea, perhaps because parents stress handwriting more with girls than with boys, which leads to girls comparing their handwriting with one another at school and actually working to make it better. Whereas boys find it less important and stress other things, like making machine gun sounds as someone mentioned earlier.
