Silly excuse not to move to China. Tragedies happen everywhere.

As was mentioned on another thread, good samaritans are often punished in CHina for for not being able to prove they didn't cause the initial injury.

And I thought this was an interesting comparison.

I live in China and this is the single biggest thing I HATE about Chinese culture...that people will absolutely not help a stranger in need. I have seen it on several occasions, although not this extreme.

However, as others have said, because of a Nanjing judges ruling a few years ago against a good samaritan, people are not willing to risk their meager livelihoods when they could be sued for everything they have.

There is a lot of fraud happening as well. I have seen poor people on bicycles wait until a BMW or Mercedes comes along then ride out in front of them to get hit and then demand blood money.

There was a case a few months ago of a foreign man in China saving someone's life on the street and he was hailed as a hero and the internet here was abuzz with comment after comment at how his courage shames the Chinese. Chinese people hate these situations too, but people are simply afraid. They have no faith at getting a fair shake should they end up in a courtroom. For the last 60 years they have learned to stay under the radar.

Still, if you are going to eliminate countries worth living in based on cultural immoralities, it would not be hard to start making a list on South Korea...or ANY country for that matter. The title of this thread is a joke.

I love it. I'm considering moving back to China for this very reason, my kind of people.

Mind your own business.
