The bottom photo is quite telling, what I assume were the top there finishers Korea, Indonesia and India. These girls are used to the 'stuff' in their home countries and finished top 3.
Anyways why are Europeans in some Miss Asia Pacific World pageant? Never heard of this pageant, actually I've probably haven't heard of most pageants. |

| I don't understand the problem. Aren't all beauty pageants just fronts for prostitution? |

Explanations given in a Korean news article:
"Asked about the sexual harassment charge, he claimed foreigners 'may have misinterpreted Korean-style greetings.' As for the scanty provision of meals, he said some of the contestants 'did not have a chance to eat due to the tight schedule.'....
"A police officer from Bukbu Police Station in Daegu who responded to the complaint told the Chosun Ilbo, 'I explained to the girl who called police how to file a sexual harassment complaint later.' He denied the bribery allegation, saying he was only given a business card, not money, by the organizer."

| I know this pageant may be on a much smaller scale, but all of a sudden my outlandish conspiracy theory about the 2002 World Cup being rigged in Korea's favour doesn't seem that far fetched. |

| Please look at the source of the story (in the OP) before you decide to take it as gospel. |

Different story isn't it? What has been claimed as fact in the Mail article is only conjecture here. Don't misunderstand me, I'm sure that that the model in question has suffered and that her claims should be investigated. However, news stories involving only one party (the decontextualised quote from "Lawrence" doesn't count) always require scrutiny, especially when a news outlet that can be generously described as devious is involved. |

"When she reported the corruption to police she says she was stunned to see officials openly bribing local officers with cash." (Mail)
""When the police arrived they called in one of the chairmen of the pageant who actually got his wallet out straight away and we were all pushed back by the organisers so we couldn't speak."" (BBC)
"After arriving home Amy was disgusted to learn that the eventual winner of the 12,700 first prize was none other than the local entrant, Miss South Korea." (Mail)
No mention of this in the BBC article, or indeed Amy's "disgust".
"The final straw came when an optional 'talent' round was won by Miss Venezuela - who had not even entered that section of the competition." (Mail)
No mention of it in the BBC article.
Three surface differences. There are many more for those of you with reading comprehension skills. In addition (stop reading now everything is everything, it'll give you a headache), the two articles are semantically different. They may seem as though they give the same information, but the Mail article relies heavily on conjecture as fact, whereas the BBC article makes it clear that the allegations are exactly that, allegations. |

I actually think the bribery charge could have been confused with the name card.
However, in today's Korean Herald it mentioned the Korean winning the event and a Venezualian winning one prize without even entering.
The Korean Herald is a Korean newspaper. However, it's journalistic integrity is also in question. So......
Nevertheless, if you combine the BBC article, with the girl's Youtube video and today's Korean Herald, the Daily's story is actually dead on.

This info combined with the youtube video really show that the stories are in fact not that far off from one another.
It's just that the BBC article dedicated less space to the story. |
We're not debating what actually happened. We're discussing the differences between the two reports.

More likely to be a case of the Mail dedicating too much space. They like to paint foreigners in a negative fashion, gives the Little Englanders something to get angry about. In contrast, the BBC article does not feature in a print medium, thus it can be as long or as short as warranted. |

Silly Bristol girl should've seen it coming. And she ain't much to look at. I see better looking girls all over London.
What is it with women in the media limelight of Britain? There are so many ugly faces. And yet I see beautiful women all the time out and about. Really a place of hidden gems. |

Usually kept in the Tower of London.
Not to bash UK women, but compared to the rest of the EU, I think they should be kept hidden. |
